Correcting BF - aka why do I think people are calling 2042 trash and what to do

If DICE solved the map design equation, made squads bigger and with proper management options, takeover, etc. and made some close quarters maps or more infantry-only choke points between sectors in current and future maps with better opportunities for LMGs and mêlée  scenarios thst would be a great start.

Moving on to two more tricky predicaments here are some suggestions on the following:

Hazard Zone disinterest problem

If DICE made Hazard Zone more interesting and/or added a third standard gamemode like Titan-prototype mode or something interesting that isn't linear and that ties into the story nicely (that isn't a BR, maybe) that would be engaging. Make HZ more interesting and add a general quick play button thst could be either breakthrough or conquest or HZ to improve game mode likelihood would then help expose players who are afraid of HZ. Like me, lol.

1. I don't know what I'm doing. 2. I would play against just bots to get better and not waste peoples' time but idk if I can do that, (is HZ in portal?). 3. And also no vc for a squad focused game mode where you can only die twice is not good. (Introduce vc for Hazard Zone first, less players, should be easier to implement.)

Class system compromise

Mainly wanted to say I think some people will always say the game's trash because of the class system.

A good mitigation method at this point would be that the presets you can quickswap at the Angelstation or on redeploy should be renamable. What's the point of the class name if you can use a sniper and spawn beacon on an assault preset or an lmg and rpg on a sniper/recon preset?

You could limit or suggest loadout options when making presets for this ui.

Or at least we should be able to make two or three presets per class type. And ideally confer some class-specific ability for each preset class. Like sniper has a spotting monocular, etc.

Another idea is sniper clothing for snipers, etc., make the character dress like the class they are playing by limiting what skins can be selected.

Anyone want to weigh in on these issues?

@Gan_XodosMaps might be improved at some point for sure with some areas with more cover. Vehicle availability and spawning also, BF2 is the best example because what has been done there is miles ahead of BF2042 conceptualization in this regard. The specific vehicle type is designated for the theater of war in BF2 also. BF2042 is usually a Hovercraft and Littlebird warfare.

I would rather play on max 64 slot maps for better performance, lower latency, destruction, balance, details, and many other reasons like getting more maps instead few huge and empty ones.

Competing in size with BR modes is another high level among misconceptions. Conquest is built around a permanent number of players, but Battle Royale is 150 downwards to the last Squad or man standing.

For me, a class system in Vehicular Conquest with personalized equipment and a specific role is the key. Meta builds with the most powerful weapon is good for the TDM experience. I see no point in having classes in TDM in the same manner as in Gun Master. Classes belong in Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush with vehicles - I`m pretty certain about that. Specialists belong in highly competitive game modes and small Squad vs Squad engagements in BR.

What I would do to make Conquest more fun for the old player base is to ascribe Specialists to classes. Do something about the maps when it comes to even cover on the line of a horizon. Bring back 5 player Squads at least and redesign Squad Management in the way it used to be.

Personally, I don`t mind the skins and whole Specialist thing. I don`t find that special while I would enjoy tactical elements of Conquest. While I would rather enjoy pure gun to gun competition in TDM, Gun Master, etc. Unfortunately, BF2042 falls flat in many of those aspects.

Hazard Zone. Look at EFT, it`s ruthless in a positive way simulator, that`s why people love it. Battlefield is a casual game with a hardcore mode as the optional sideshow. Even the Squad elements have been removed with the Commander mode. BF2042 is the auto-heal with unlimited stamina. The tone of the game is hilarious in an unintentional way. I mean by what chance anyone from EFT might even consider even checking Hazard Zone mode at this point.

I cannot accept Specialists as an ultimate solution at least in Conquest. Specialists dismantled currently strict structure and easy to comprehend battle roles. Right now I can`t be certain if the guy pushing me has got AT rocket or C4. It`s harder to tell quickly sometimes if the McKay is a friend or foe. Angel with AT rocket, armor shard, and LKM and Supply Drop is simply divine while backed by a medic.

I could go like this for weeks and still find something that has been done outright wrong on each Battlefield but 2042 is special in this regard. At this point, it is better to wait for some relevant updates and content.

I play not only the BF series. In my library, I have Squad, WW3, Escape from Tarkov, Quake series, Unreal series, Metro Series, Stalker series, DOOM series and the list goes on. After 15+ years with the BF series, I never expected to be disappointed as much.
