If you do 80dmg or more to a player it should count towards a kill for you not an assist. This would help encourage new players to the game to stay and play.
This is a feature that was brought in BF4 so the concept won’t be hard to implement into BF2042.
If they added this back into the franchise it would be a small step towards the right direction
Why they took it away at the first place?!
Especially in a game with such high T1 requirements that only count kills and no assists towards it.

@pecmeserp well that's bad. Should be both in that case.
Haven't tested recently, but i rmemeber when i for example shot someone from a helicopter passenger seat, got a hit marker and also spotted him. I got spot & damage assists showing up on my screen as he got killed.

And in that regard, I have had incredibly inconsistent vehicle damage kill assists for at least a month, it worked for a bit after they added it, now it's working super inconsistently.
