CPU upgrade dilemma for BF2042
So, I game with a 5800X3D and can not say enough good things about this CPU, ALBEIT I do also have a 4090 GPU and game at 4k 120hz.
In your circumstance I would still choose the 5800X3D but you gotta ask yourself.....do you game more than you do video production? if so then the 5800X3D is a no brainer.

The issue stands on your GPU. but also gaming at 1080p is giving you this bottleneck. The GPU is better off gaming at 1440p in this situation. On the other hand, to alleviate stress from your GPU and you don't plan on upgrading your GPU anytime soon, the 5900x is a no brainer. 12 cores is more than enough to handle any game.

looking at your current build, if you were to get a better monitor to be able to game at 1440p, or even a 4k monitor but still set it to 1440p gaming, you'll still come out on top.
