Cross Gen Bundle - FAQ
What is the Cross-Gen Bundle?
Our Cross-Gen Bundle provides you with digital access to Battlefield 2042 on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, or on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
e.g. If you pick up a Cross-Gen edition of Battlefield 2042 on the Xbox One, you’ll have access to the Xbox One X|S version of the game should you later switch to newer hardware.
What editions of Battlefield 2042 have the Cross-Gen Bundle?
The Gold, and Ultimate Editions (Digital Only) all have access to the Cross-Gen Bundle. The Digital Standard Edition on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S has been upgraded today to also include this Cross-Gen Bundle.
I have already pre-ordered the Digital Standard Edition on a PlayStation 5/Xbox Series X|S. Do I need to do anything to claim this?
You’re automatically being upgraded to include this benefit. You’re all good, nothing new to do here!
I currently have an Xbox One, but might buy an Xbox One Series X|S in the future. Will you have other upgrade paths available in the future if I decide to purchase the Standard Edition on Xbox One?
We presently have no plans for any alternative upgrade paths. This is also true of the experience on PlayStation 4.
I’m buying a physical copy of the game from a store. Does this version of the game also include the Cross-Gen Bundle?
The Cross-Gen Bundle is only present on the Digital Editions of the game listed previously.
Is the Digital Standard Edition of the game also being upgraded to include the Cross-Gen Bundle on PlayStation 4/Xbox One?
This benefit will only be present in the PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S digital editions. If you are currently planning to buy new hardware in the future, this is a new option for you to consider.
How does Cross Progression work?
No matter where your Battlefield 2042 journey starts, your progress will travel with you so long as you’re always using profiles that access the same EA Account. If your Xbox Profile is attached to a different EA Account than your PlayStation Account, your progress will not be shared. If I purchase a Cross-Gen Bundle version of the game on PlayStation, and then later switch to playing on Xbox, will I need to purchase a new copy of the game?
Yes. The Cross-Gen Bundle takes effect within the same family of consoles, but will not work Cross Platform.
How do the PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions differ from the versions of Battlefield 2042 on newer hardware?
PlayStation 4, and Xbox One features a maximum player count of 64, and tailored layouts of all our maps. On PC, and the latest consoles, players will experience the game with a maximum player count of 128 players. All versions of the game feature the same set of Specialists, Maps, and Modes, across All-Out Warfare, Hazard Zone, and Battlefield Portal.
