Cross Play with PC
I play on PS5 and I am just really struggling to enjoy Battlefield 2042 against and with PC players. Specifically speaking I am having a hard time dealing with people who play on keyboard and mouse. ...
PC player might have better aim control, yet you can move just like a PC player if you have a paddle controller using higher sensitivity. I really don't notice the PC players as and issue at all to be honest, using a paddle controller...
The only real issue I have with PC is the ease of playing with aimbots and other cheats, so it kind of defeats the purpose of playing console to get away from cheaters.
The other nice part of playing with console only is the fact you know it comes down to skill and sometimes slightly better connection quality as you are running the exact same hardware at the exact same frames per second. When you add PCs with console players, now you are competing with players with 100 plus frames per second, with the consoles stuck at 60 frames per second (or less as my Series X dumps to low 40s on Hourglass map constantly), and yes the pros run 200fps on $1500-$2000 graphic cards for a reason as they would get thrashed running 60fps.
Nobody seems to every talk about the advantage of an extra 100fps...instead the focus is mouse vs keyboard, yet look how many APex players are switching to controller on PC as there are some advantages, yet perhaps not so much with BF 2042 as the aim assist is trash to say the least, versus the aim assist in Apex.
I heard Microsoft is talking with the other platforms and DICE to try to work on a cross platform ban system for cheaters on PCs. I'm not sure if it is in the works or just an idea they have at this point.
I do agree that with a paddle controller you can have mobility similar to PC. But like you had mentioned, I came to console because everyone was supposto be on around the same hardware and everything was supposto be fair. I play on a standard controller and I stick to more traditional movements like sliding to a crouch stop and taking a few shots, I dont jump often, I dont crouch to avoid gunfire, only to increase my accuracy. I liked when everyone else was also using a regular controller with me. I do not want to haveto play in an environment where i need to buy expensive hardware just to be able to compete with the highest level players. I want things to be even for everyone so that the skilled players are on top and nobody has a big hardware advantage. Yes I can just buy a keyboard and mouse or get a controller with paddles, but thats taking away the whole reason I play on console.
When I game I don't sit around frantically monitoring framerates as if I were unwell and monitoring my blood pressure. I just play the game on my consoles and PC. If the game feels smooth and looks fantastic (and it does on my LG CL OLED) I have fun playing it.
I'm not comparing how many framerates my gaming PC or gaming laptop can achieve (I don't play Battlefield 2042 on PC anyway; its literally more optimized on the Series X) to how many framerates my favorite console, the Series X, can achieve. I mean if you want to do that and then run here and tell people about it go right ahead. Just don't expect me to start promoting a specific plastic box, PC, due to what you claim was a "framerate drop once on your console" Its not something I engage in. I'm not Digital Foundry and don't waste my time comparing framerates; nor am I Reddit where they literally waste more time TALKING about PC builds than they do actually PLAYING games. The site is full of toxic PC users which is one of the reason I am turned off by the platform.
I own a gaming PC, with a 3090 might I add, but I've never been into the silly "PC MASTER RACE" crap. Most don't even know Ben Yahtzee meant that as a joke but a few Dorito munching, Mountain Dew drinking outcasts took what he said seriously. In addition, XCLOUD will be releasing a stick/puck that is similar to the Amazon fire stick. It will be able to run games without a beefy, overpriced graphics card, and without a bulky PC to have to fit the card into. Most will opt to stream on their TVs or whatever is available. IMO XBOX will be worldwide with that move, while PCs will see declining numbers. I could be wrong but once that is out, and stabilized, you won't need beefed up hardware to play games. What's more likely to be dropped by thrifty consumers? Something that can be bought for $500 or something that costs thousands and offers the same experience? Most people will refuse to spend money just to be spending money. They will opt for the Cloud gaming.
My concern is PC hackers sliding across the board and bunny hopping through the hills on Manifest. NOT some kind of covert PC vs console war.
I definitely agree that I do not want to promote a covert PC vs console war. I just like when games are fair and everyone is on similar grounds. I believe that PC players are able to play this game with better accuracy, consistency, and more precise movements. It is just very frustrating when I am trying to headshot a player and that player notices me and starts to crouch, move left, stand, shoot, crouch, jump, slide, heal reload, all while shooting a K30 accurately in my face from like 60 meters. And every time something to that situation has happened its been a PC player. I do not dislike PC players. I just do not like that I am being put in the same lobby as someone who is using an input device (mouse and keyboard) that has so much more control over a character than my controller. I am really just hoping that eventually there will be PS5 only lobbies, or even just PS5 and xbox lobbies. I just really do not want to play against people using a mouse and keyboard. I already dislike the whole concept of paddle controllers lol but that is a whole different issue.
And of course I do not like hackers and cheaters but I think nobody really likes them.
Agreed. No one on console asked for this crap to be fodder for PC players. This turned ALOT of console players off this game
