Crossplay?

I understand that Series X will have larger maps and numbers so Xbox One players will not be able to join this BUT will Series X players be able to take a downgrade of numbers and Join the Xbox One servers? i ask because many of my friends do not have the Series X yet and id still like to play with them.
@Surfjayce I don't think the game will have any form of crossplay, they would have mentioned it on pre order stores already.
