Dear EA / DICE - Thoughts About BOTs & CrossPlay - Including RSP

Dear EA and DICE

May I ask who suggested bots (AI) on server, whomever that person maybe, they know nothing about online multiple player gaming and should be ignored for all time when it comes to battlefield.

We gamers are a simply folk who do not jump online and play for countless hours to kill bots (AI), if we wanted that then we can play payday / left4dead and other squad based shooters, the pleasure of online gaming and in particular battlefield is to know that on the other side of a monitor there is a player who you just owned and he will be back to try and specifically kill you, using BOT is a cynical attempt to show that there is a player base on a server when it is full of AI, simply put this is a very wrong step and should be removed or have an option to remove.

Cross-play another modern incarnation of the marketers dream and company accountants, lets see how this discussion went, lets do cross-play we can all the players across all platform together and we will only have to offer 1 server for all different systems instead of say 4.
The problem with this is a like COD hackers will prevail and aimbotting by console user in warzone is worst than the virus of unknown origin.

Let’s not beat around then bush here DICE's / EA's record of stopping hacking on all BF’s is simply put poor if not abysmal, if you want to introduce cross-play then allow us to have a rent a server program and have option to limit the functionality as we see fit,

I for one would be happy to pay for a server we could fully customise and control, I am happy pay my money and see if I can find another 127 players who share my view of BF – that is choice. and one that until BF1 I had the opportunity to make and happy to make, to build a community around.

For years EA / DICE have talked about giving choice to the players on how that want to play battlefield while  they have systemically cut the best part of the game, well it about time you stop with lip service and consider the gamers / communities that have backed BF over these many years and give the community what they want.

A list of key things that needs to be in battlefield

A properly implemented Rent a Server Program - BF4 model used for console was great if you do not 3rd party providers.

5- 8 player squads - 4 is simply too small is only in place i suspect for consoles

The following  preset  - Classic / hardcore / normal

Make Cross-Play optional - unlike Warzone or limit it to the the Battle Royale mode

Deliver the above and you will have a massive hit on your hands.

If you like feed back from my community who have lived and breathed over the all iterations, please contact me I have 50 guys with 10’s of thousands of the hours playing BF, who would be more than happy to help shape the next BF.

Kind regards,

    Hello Bux

I try to check this discussion area daily, and a lot of your concerns are addressed in several discussions.

So far we may expect up to 64 bots in a 128 player match on Conquest and Breakthrough.

The quality, role and behavior of the bots is what we have to see how it works out. Star Wars Battlefront (2017) uses bots in several modes,

sometime as objectives, sometimes to make a battle feel like a battle. sometimes to help kick start a server.

But I agree that I'd prefer to play with 127 other players, too.

Crossplay is another interesting topic, where most people have ambiguous opinions about. Some like to be able to play with friends that play on a different platform.

It feels that PC player don't trust console players and vise versa, assuming cheaters only in the other group. But I guess the reason behind this is, that controller + aim assist feels different from keyboard + mouse, and that when using one set its difficult to estimate what is possible to do with the other.

Currently there is the idea presented to opt out of cross play, which may bring up other concerns. For example, will we have a server browser that shows if a server is crossplay enabled or disabled, or do we only get match making, to make that work. I believe that the planned technical play test, end of this summer is to determine if crossplay will be feasible and what will be possible or not possible.

I too like to see some kind of rental server program, or something like persistant community games, so that sever runtime does not require me to remain logged in.

To build communities I believe that a server with a specific rule set needs to be available all time. And in addition to that, we need to be able to group in form of a Platoons, that, especially in the case of crossplay needs to go beyond the XBox, Origin and PlayStation friendlists.

No matter how personalized servers will work, I'd too prefer to have there basic official rule sets like you said, Normal, Classic, Hardcore, so it becomes easier to describe what the server is about. eg, Classic + Friendly Fire + Vehicle Respawn Time +200%

    See you on the Battlefield,

    Kregora

If I would have dictatorship over these things then both crossplay and bots would be enabled on default official servers helping to bring players together and fill servers of otherwise empty rotations. Being as an option on community servers where communities can decide best practice for themselves. Win win situation imo.

But that would require a community server option.

    Well played @Teal_Pipo_Fredo  😎

  • @buxshots Bro, the RSP ship sailed years ago. Those are never coming back sadly. This is EA we're talking about. Why give an RSP a cut of their profits? Just how business works. All DICE needs to do is just give fully customizable servers with RCON integration and RSP debate is a dead duck. But they won't do that. We'll get EA hosted like before with minimum customizing. That's the best I think we can hope for at this point.
