I`m not against a lobby for certain game modes like extraction or battle royale. Perhaps for smaller custom events.
Taking the "bricks" that made Battlefield what it is now will definitely not go unnoticed. No options for the communities is automatically sanctioning a whole myriad of dedicated customers (to the franchise). You know - everyone has got a friend that has got another - the best marketing leverage and opinionated/informed community on Earth.
Joining the server in the morning, browsing for populated ones, half-populated (without waiting 2-3min in the lobby to witness 80% of the AI in the first 10 minutes of the game like it is in 2042 nowadays) was (still is, look at BF4) the beauty of the game. Saying "hi" to your mates in global chat (if You were not present on TeamSpeak or Ventrilo yet). Getting into 48 slot Conquest instead of 64 or 32 - that is the thing also. I felt like the game was created by the gamers for the gamers back in the day. YOUR BATTLEFIELD marketing slogan - felt real back then.
2042 feels like an indie game with triple-A firefights. BF2 was created within 1 and a half years of development. 3 years of development for 2042 - impossible. That`s why some of the people are more than disappointed. Building BF3 from the grounds took more than 4 years of development.
More than happy to contribute to your thread as I said you made a lot of very valid points.
I would also accept that MM could work ok for smaller game modes and would probably make sense as they would not be as well populated..
i agree when you say BF2042 does not feel like a BF game at all. I just don't get that feeling of being part of a team like we had in previous BF's. No immersion.
No real camaraderie, and that's probably due to the fact that you only play with a particular squad for a single round and then get dumped back to the lobby.
People will probably say we are living in the past and need to move with the times but imho the previous BF's offered more in the way of entertainment, playability
and longevity than BF2042, which I feel is pretty soulless.
I hope DICE can eventually turn it round but it will take a lot of work !!
