Dedicated, permanent servers run by Communities in a Server Browser
Server Browser - the possibility to rent a server with a couple of mates had always been a charm in the BF series. Right now all the magic is gone. Portal will never replace that experience.
I have no idea how currently introduced matchmaking is supposed to be a better solution to a solid classic one? Lobby and MM belong to Battle Royale and Hazard Zone, period. Might be even skill-based as an additional option but only there.
Right now players have no control over a map rotation, tickets/timer (how lengthy the game is), no rotation of game modes, no Infantry Conquest. No servers focusing around CITY MAPS or Close Quarters, vehicular Armoured Kill playstyle, and maps. There is literally none of that. How is this 2042 game is supposed to be a better experience without a scoreboard? I can`t even check who is doing well and join his squad to learn the moves now. I can`t even say "hi" politely as a civilized and responsible member of society in the global/main chat. No VoIP, no Squad Management.
I feel like the devs forgot their main role to work around Conquest and classes in the meantime. The game is fun on its own but as a shooter is above average, disastrous as a concept to previous battlefields. There is no way there are no trade-offs with the implementation of 128 players that serve no purpose in Conquest other than a high fire-atrocity. lower graphical fidelity, with fewer objects on the map, higher latencies, and balance in a complete lack of balance. Instead of more maps, we get probably less because of the scale of the endeavor.
Please make maps dedicated for HZ and BR, so the quality of other maps with the game flow doesn`t go down. Especially if the team merely experiments with other popular game-modes.

Can we have to get out of our comfort zone and admit that the game is lackluster? Remember - there is no Campaign, Co-op, even Test Range. Far fewer game modes. A small number of guns. There is a Portal with 6 maps but doesn`t provide much rather than a reskin with unpolished gunplay. Hazard Zone is dead on arrival (without VoIP). The in-game shop doesn`t offer much - hopefully stays until the game becomes stable and major bug-free.
If I ever wanted to play a crossover of Apex, Cod, Fortnight, Hunt Showdown then I would play any of the games mentioned. I played BF because it has had something to do with BF in the first place.
Most of the fanbase anticipated a reskin of BC2, 3, 4 with modern technology, anything but not what 2042 offers - it's a good game on its own, I was having fun on occasions as well. But there are so many morbid misconceptions about the franchise that becomes a Legacy of a former self.
