I am still not sold on specialists and wouldn't be upset if classes returned but by the Gods, they are not the spawn of Satan totally destroying teamplay and the game some people think they do!
If you want to play as a traditional Support, you can and the same is true of all other classes except now you can do a bit of mix and match between specialist and class.
@Trokey66 I disagree, I don't think they are the spawn of satan but they severely limit my style of gameplay of having a team oriented gadget complementing some sort of defense/offense gadget, and prioritizing enemies based on what they have. Instead of supposedly giving me "more freedom."
I can't run a full vehicle support character with a rocket and repair tool by having one gadget locked to a specific ability. It adds more steps and takes away flow constantly checking if any vehicles are up or available and switching back and forth between the two. If I want to run/support a tank, no longer do I know who might have c4 or rockets and to focus on them first. Things like that, feels like a mash of stuff just thrown in on top of some standard shooter mechanics.

@AntEater1997 I totally agree that the flow is kind of a mess in this BF game. I also think that the maps are a bit lacking in excitement. (But I like the changing weather.) What I don't like is the "run and dodge the enemy heli / jet" at the start of the conquest game if I don't get lucky with a motor or some alert teammates.
Also, In BF3 and BF4 it was somewhat clear who did what. In 2042, I will only look at the names to figure out the enemies and hope for the best that they can't counter my loadout. The most obvious players are the snipers. But the rest are a hard guess, most likely everyone ether has an AA or Rocket equipped to counter the vehicle spam.
I would rather have the maps not deleted, but remade to balance / remove the squad vehicle spam and for better cover in the open areas. And limit the specialists weapon loadouts to force some better squad teamplay. Right now, everyone is ether going solo rambo or playing with friends over discord and uses the squad function soly to keep track of their friends on the map, nothing wrong with that but I think the game can be more fun with loadout limitations.
