I responded to you on this in another topic as well, as far as I know the distinction in sound between lock-on and incoming missile has always been there for all air vehicles. And there's a screen prompt of an incoming missile as well.
Only inexperienced pilots will flare at the lock-on sound. As the playerbase has shrunk and we're left with mainly experienced players it just seems that no one launch flares anymore.
ahh ok - then that must be it then un-experienced players that launches. But that then makes stingers even more useless - you need to waste one to have him launch flares - he fly away - recharge flares and come back. Recoils - they know from where you shoot (tanks at least). Perhaps infantry should stop messing with choppers and tanks and let your teams vehicles deal with that. Infantry has bad odds here against this. And since dice nerfed the recoils it seems like they do not want you to use those.
I do see a lot of choppers launch flares when you have lock using soflam - but that could be recoils that launch somewhere of course.
Javelins is a joke in this game - time it takes to get lock vs how easy it is to counter - smoke / reactive armor (you can have both in vehicles).
They should fix the tracer dart - when hit on something it should be immune to flares / smoke - guess reason why no one use this.
Then it is obvious why all chopper pilots get those massive kill streaks - no real danger ahead - launch flares and give a * - you are 100 % secured !
