I have the samt thoughts... Have been a BF fan from the beginning but maybe I am to old for this direction Bf now is taking.
There is a Early access game called World war 3 that seems intresting.. 12$ at steam...

I find this just so embarrassing, so shameful. Been a fan for so long, this really hurts..
The specialists where a bad Idea for this franchise, this just reinforces that.
So embarrassed, I wish Battlefield didn't go this way.. It just not right.. ☹️
Its like you been in this wonderful relationship for 20 odd years, then suddenly they go Crazy and lose the plot and they rip your heat out leave you empty...
This whole game was just a Bad idea from the start... I feel so sad and embarrassed. ☹️

It's devastating as a long term fan who has always paid for premium battlepackz, editions, pre orders - anything I could I've bought it on every BF instalment made to date - no exceptions.
For EA to basically say that's not enough and stick the middle finger up to us and all of the core buying fanbase after all this time, with a pathetic effort to ditch us for the kids playing WZ and Fortnite, is genuinely insulting.
I hope with all my heart this cynical move by EA (and if you read Glassdoor etc you can see this is absolutely an EA issue) blows up in their greedy faces for trying to literally sell out the Battlefield name.
They could have quite easily sold this crap as any other name instead of ruining and deliberately alienating one of their their longest standing, LONGEST PAYING communities and franchises.
Beyond rude, completely disgraceful behaviour and I hope it really damages them commercially, they fully deserve it.

@MatsPalatsNr2Agree WW3 is an amazing game, a return to old BF. They have amazingly detailed maps unlike 2042 bland emptiness. It will be a free to play game when it releases in March. It may be time for the BF fan base to move to World War 3 when it launches. It's an Indy studio yet it looks to have more polish than 2042.
All loyal BF fans its time to move on and go to another game WW3 launches on console/pc in March (early access right now on PC) Even Halo is more realistic and gritty compared to whatever 2042 has become
Also just to point out the next BF game even if it is better wont be in this 'modern' setting it will most likely be either be a another historic shooter maybe a Vietnam? or ultra future 2142, so those of us who were excited for a modern day setting they ruined it for us. Earlier this year it was confirmed its a shortened release cycle so 2023 is the next game, so this games life cycle is about 1.5yrs, 2042 is just going to be used as a skin selling gap filler game, it will never return near to where people hope it will in that short space of time and support will be dropped by fall next year

It's going end up a nothing on it's current course. It will have alienated all the players who've been it's core market up to now and it won't make a dent in the market it's trying to get into by imitating other games. A game that no one wants.
That's what you get when the people who are making the decisions have no real interest, passion or imagination - an empty, hollowed-out sad mess.

I guess will try WW3. For now the only thing that keeps my hopes for this entry is... PORTAL. But well it has blocked progression so it kind a pointless thing. On the other hand why should i care about BF 2042 all out warfare progression when I am not interested in playing this mode anymore?
