Can you define what a realistic FP military shooter is for you that you would like to see in 2042?
I've been playing Mil Sim in Portal about 90% of my playing time. Probably the best FPS experience I've had in recent years with the limited amount of time I can jump into games with my current schedule. If you haven't given those a run yet, worth exploring.
As another pointed out, I don't think Battlefield ever came off as trying to be a realistic military shooter like what Arma does. I always looked at Battlefield as more "realistic" because the graphics engine was always ahead of the competition, the destruction and levolution you never saw in other games, and being able to use vehicles like other shooter titles never did. The visual and sound of the explosions in 2042 is one thing that really stands out as realistic which no other game comes close. The weather changing can make a map feel like a completely new map at times. No battle really feels the same.
Anyways, let us know what you'd like the team to add to the game to hit the mark for you. I'm sorry you're having some issues with the game not working on your end. If you happen to find them under the Bug Reporting forum please add to the reports so it helps every little step for us to monitor impact.
Hi Blueberry
Thanks for responding. I think the community can deal with the bugs and things that comes with many Battlefield launches. The graphics/huge-maps are awesome and I’m excited about that aspect of the game. The biggest thing everyone hates is the specific soldier selection as specialist. Perhaps a black female that wants to use the grappling hook doesn’t wanna run around the map looking like Mackay. The specialist are extremely bad and the lines (after the game) are even worse. It has such a arcade (unrealistic) feel that kills the immersion of a all out war triple A game. I think if we could pick soldiers that we enjoy playing with and choose our special ability (like a wing suit) it would change everything. I would settle for simply changing the heads out on the different specialist with some of the soldiers from portal. It’s just very un-realistic to see 4 Mackay characters in the same vehicle (especially when he is such a annoying character to start with). Having to play with these cheesy characters have killed the realistic feel that Battlefield has given in past titles. Simply more variety (helmets, tops, pants, boots) and a choice of different looks for characters would make the community very enthused.
Thank You for listening

Appreciate the specifics, will pass along. I do share the same thoughts with you about all the same characters in a vehicle. In the past we all had the same uniforms so individualism didn't really show, but in this case when they're all in tight quarters it can seem a little off.- 4 years ago

It is obvious that the BF2042 game suffers from lack of proper vision and clear leadership through it's full development cycle, as the product output we now are left with today is a hopeless mishmash of several mixed up concepts, where none of them now really works due to too many very substantial directional changes during its development. Aka, generic Battlefield fractions vs BattleRoyal. Individual hero specialists versus squad based teamplay through classes, VOIP etc...
So there is no spirit or identity in this game and the social/community aspects are all gone. And that is otherwise exactly what made BF great in previous versions of it and why players kept coming back for more. The 2042 maps comes across as only half baked, resulting in limited game flow with little strategic battle gaming, as we experience mainly just silly chaos all over the place.

@EA_BlueberryThat’s the point a lot of players don’t want to be “heros” they want to assault/support/etc… with realistic looking military uniforms.
We all know specialists (heros) are for selling skins, but for gosh sakes, you would have people buying all sorts of stuff if you were to make it more “realistic”.At least on my end I have no plans to buy any skin for anyone as I find most if the specialists annoying and ridiculous.

Most of the fans anticipated another militaristic shooter, not a simulator as ARMA or Squad. Highly tactical game, at least in Conquest. The next-generation game should include finally a modern militaristic feel to it.
The lobby is great for HZ and BR but not really for a custom experience. No rental servers, no server browser automatically translates to no communities and smaller long-term player base also. No VoIP, no global chat. No scoreboard that would help me to establish a decent player, join his squad and learn. No ability to verify if I`m making any progress with the Statistics Page. No platoons with clan tags... I mean really, how am I supposed to be engaged after getting all the weapon unlocks on the XP farms? Lobby with AI is another downside. No incentive with 4+ people to play BF2042 with the current lobby as the ultimate solution. 16 player lobby won`t replace dedicated servers as in previous BFs.
Classes - another aspect greatly anticipated by the majority of the fanbase that is gone, well-structured classes. Squad Management has been limited - no control over my Squad or with mates. No admin tools to shape the teams in small clan vs clan friendly matches, not to mention the competitive aspect. These are the things that enormously made Conquest less enjoyable (at least for me), right now the mode feels like "Free for All" mode with some flags located here and there. With commander mode and the view from above like the RTS game, the battlefield felt 10x better with the highly tactical approach in 2005. Communication was the key back in the day. Commander mode was a letdown in 2013.
Vehicular gameplay is a misstep. Back in the day, almost every flag used to have vehicles, something worth fighting for. The control over the flags was not only beneficial spawn-wise and ticket-wise. Little birds and Hovercrafts on every map... I`m speechless.
Right now players are dealing with the army of clones not on one side but both. Sometimes it`s hard to process whos friendly and who`s the foe. This aspect of the game ruins immersion immediately. I can`t say I prefer some of the abilities of the Specialists and I don`t enjoy them for the most part. I anticipated a strong emphasis on gunplay. Not the ability to travel across the map on the wingsuit, get behind enemy lines and drop c5 in the mid-air. McKay may get quickly on the other side of the obstacle with his hook. Armor shards change TTK but the movement and weight of the players remain the same! This for me ruins the game flow a bit also. Specialists are so warm-hearted I am almost willing to hug them each time rather than fight against them. One-liners are only cringe-worthy, don`t add anything to the game. Specialists only emanate as a source of income that in fact have a rather negative impact on the game flow - this is my biased opinion. How many times nade-spam has been discussed - Sundance. Paik has got ESP/wallhack ability. Boris turret has got similar ability. Constantin is almost a universal soldier. Hero shooter instead of battlefield-wise experience.
The only, only reason why I have been playing BF so far was the platoon/clan/community aspect. Highly customizable permanent servers. Tactical aspects of the game. Those 3 pillars are gone so the verdict is obvious 2/10.
