I think people should stop blaming the developers. There is a difference between development and management. From what has been put mainstream, management is effectively entirely to blame.
@LeMairyHuffI partly agree on this. The big decisions like specialists etc are made by management.
But the quality (not design) of the game are the developers problem. There are a lot of issues that shouldn't be in the game.
Things like when you put in a match just to see the EOR-screen, stuttering when getting shot by vehicles/choppers, sudenly jump is not working, cannot revive people close to walls, hit-reg not working etc etc.
This is perhaps due to not having time enough, but it's still on the developers that creates the code (I work in IT, programs a lot and knows very well how hard it is).

@cso7777I would agree to an extent.
There were a lot of decisions made which hindered the progress of the game which were out of the Developers hands (and also the artists and QA). Lockdown happened and everyone had to share a reduced amount of testing devices remotely between each other. Then, the Game switched focus from BR to FPS which is one of the worst decisions you could make for a game part-though its development cycle. You never change the original design and vision to such an extent. Especially on this scale of project. On top of that, many of the Frostbite Engine developers had left before 2042 switched to a new version of the engine, leaving no experienced engine developers left to aid the switch over, which drained the project for a while. Then, nearer the end of development, a number of UI developers left for a different company and apparently the UI was under-scoped and understaffed.
Developers aren't just coders. Typically, as you move into massive companies, developers become specialised. So for example instead of programmer we'd have "vehicle technical specialist" or "UI scripter" or "Anti-Cheat engineer" yada yada yada. I guess everyone was affected and the process became incredibly inefficient.
Its very complex but I suspect the Game Design shift and the Engine version shift were the biggest killers. It's never a good idea to do either before starting development. They still need time to formulate what happened before Christmas. I suspect they've still got a lot of vacancies and a lot of people are still new there. Must be quite scary in a situation like this.- cso77774 years agoSeasoned Ace@LeMairyHuff I very well understand how development of software works and that large projects are very hard to "organize".
But the quality of the software is awful, the game has issues almost everywhere and nothing just works without some (periodic) issues.
Things like matchmaking being totally broken (keeps selecting the same map over and over), stuttering from explosions, hit-reg being faulty etc etc should not really be issues in a AAA game. Especially not one that was ahead of time (according to EA).- Kilzall4 years agoNew Traveler
After several months I come away with this:
This game sucks *. Why:
Why do you think there are zero revives? It is because it does not matter. Why is that you may ask?
Because infantry play has been so nerfed that it no longer matters.
EA in its drive to be woke has nerfed infantry to the point it really makes no sense to revive a resource that is only good for 1 kill maximum.
No longer does skill play a part in the game. Let me say that again. No longer does skill play a part in a game! I invested in a very expensive rig to play this game.
I cannot choose a server. I cannot choose a team. I cannot choose to play with friends. I cannot host a server. I cannot no longer have fun playing a freaking game!
Why? because we are woke....
Just can't believe it has come to this.
In my day the internet and gaming where a way like minded folk could get together and have fun playing cool games with Lan parties and VOIP. Now it's all about hurt feelings and making a buck. How far we have travelled to the dark side in an effort virtue signal and make a quick buck. Enjoy this garbage as I cannot play anymore. Honestly, I cannot think of why I would continue to play....
- Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@LeMairyHuff Where is the evidence from DICE that BF2042 was intended as a BR game that changed direction?
And I don't mean the 'community' subjective, convoluted assumptions.- 4 years ago@Trokey66 It is Tom Hendersen who claimed this in his 30minute video which takes on the troublesome development.

So, the only source is Tom Henderson.
Although as secondary sources I think Henderson have them but protects them.
