@Trokey66Or in this case common sense and first hand experience which I don't expect you to know. How do you defend it? What other causes would destroy those years of development?
I'm not sure why you're trying to convince people otherwise. The guy who documented everything I said leaked very accurate info about the game before its release. Who am I more likely to believe - You or him? (Rhetorical question)

He was also the same guy that many on the reddit 2042 sub were asking for his leaks to be removed from the sub due to how much he got wrong.
So go ahead and believe everything he tells you.
- 4 years ago@Tank2042Man Whether it came from him or anyone else, it doesn't matter. Why's that? Well because I'm a game dev and when you take a look at the game, how it's designed, how things are implemented as oppose to a traditional battlefield title, it is glaringly obvious.
Why would Specialist suddenly be a go-to feature for Battlefield? Anyone? Did players express good opinion about it? Clearly not. No one in their right mind at DICE or EA would think players would take it positively. They did it quite obviously because they thought they could finish the game as a BR and it would be different enough for people to buy it.
It genuinely seems almost impossible to * up a staple IP that you have many years of experience in creating, developing and even bonding with the community about. No publisher would throw that away unless it was a shot at money. What makes you think 2042 in its current state is a good shot at money? - Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@LeMairyHuff Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
So in short, no evidence just subjective assumptions based on rumour as I said earlier.
And this is not about defending anything, just understanding any 'facts' which it would appear to be sorely lacking in you case. - X-Sunslayer-X4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Trokey66 does it really matter if the game was originally supposed to be a BR or not?
the game still is in an unacceptable state for many many customers from a technical standpoint alone, and sure it might work for you on your system but that does not make it acceptable for many many others
even on my above average system well in the recommendet specs besides the GPU (i use a 2080 8GB) i get stutters, drops or other visual bugs... not even mentioning all the techical issues from netcode to inputs refusing to be performed (looking and you fire-mode-changing) - Mackstan714 years agoSeasoned Ace
Just geve the game a try after 3a 4 weeks, still the same crap.
First thing that i noticed( crossplay off, pc only) that it takes a long time to hop in a game. Turned crossplay on and didnt took long to play.
I used the word play, but that was hardly what i did... felt moore like shooting silhouettes and (foam)bullets needed a busticket to get to players.
Also walking and running around is like running in a babywalk chair.
Nope...still too many bugs, glitches and utterly nonsens too have fun.
- Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@X-Sunslayer-X People read these things and then (stupidly) believe every word and make their decision based on them.
So no, it doesn't matter to me if it was intended to be a BR game as long as it is 'fact' that it was indeed, intended to be a pure BR game.
That 'fact' is notably absent.
This is a prime example of disinformation being spread by the 'community' increase the negativity around the game that is not true.
Let's not forget, this is the very same 'community' that insists that EA/DICE have lied, misinformed and falsely advertised the game. - X-Sunslayer-X4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Trokey66 i mean Tom Henderson has been correct about many of his leaks and if you want to belive it thats your own direction.
i still feel like especially EA mislead a lot concerning the state of this game.
Claiming its ahead of scheduele, the fastes feature complete game by DICE ( i mean if you rip out d dozen features that are basic in any other FPS then sure) and then acting like the victim because consumers are justifiably pissed? come on that is like a kindergartner beign mad that no one lauged at his jokes...
DICE has promised all the way back in chapter 4 of BFV to communicate more and especially more directly with the fans and here we are having not gotten a single offical piece of information again.
there is a quote from Paul Watzlawik ( a Psychologist) "one cannot not communicate" so there is that....
also all DICE would need to do is show us their early design concepts and ideas from teh game to discredit these statements... so either way one person is most likely lying to us anyways - Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@X-Sunslayer-X Having worked on large projects, I can say with certainty that is perfectly possible to be ahead of schedule one day then the next, something happens or is found that can put the project back days, weeks or even months behind.
To keep using this is just more 'misinformation'. - X-Sunslayer-X4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Trokey66 so would you then inform the employer of such delays? i imagine you would... especially if it is then to be sold to a consumer later on.
imagine if a company developing software for ventilators just released a comparable mess..... - Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@X-Sunslayer-X The people that needed to know will have been informed and the team would have worked hard to catch up.
At that point there would be absolutely no reason to inform the customer, indeed we were informed of a month's delay later in the year.
People won't die if the game stops working so bit hyperbole there don't you think? - X-Sunslayer-X4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Trokey66 so EA/DICE-Management clearly must have known the state of the product and still shipped it. how is that in any world acceptable?
it is a figure of speech it still and 100+€ is a lot of money still....
but regardless the house is on fire and its up to EA/DICE to either let it burn to the ground or to put it out - Micawber7294 years agoSeasoned Veteran@X-Sunslayer-X idk as it seems to me that at a certain point a game has to be released in order to get it right.
With the advent of new gfx getting ever more out of control with and imo eye candy that’s not needed for again imo FPS multiplayer online games is just silly.
More specifically Ray Tracing but others as well. - X-Sunslayer-X4 years agoSeasoned Ace@k1u73 or you know DICE could just keep cycling it into a beta for broad testing, or a CTE you knwo instead of skimming away on what some describe as misleading marketing at the very least...
there were better alternatives but EA/DICE-Management gambled and got burned hard now - 4 years ago
@Trokey66I really couldn't care less. EA deservers every complaint and criticism for trying to sell the game priced at £49.99 which would indicate at least a fair deal of quality especially from this franchise, of which there is precisely none. People seem to think that because businesses can sell what they want how they want and be as misleading as they want means they don't deserve criticism. The customer can also play the misinformation/misleading game.
They can quite easily clear up misinformation if they spoke about why the game is a mess. For whatever reason, companies like to play the silent card and expect sympathy. I wouldn't buy a new car and expect 3 of the 4 wheels to be included and then be frowned upon when I complain about the missing one - Incredibly naïve. Market the game as a masterpiece when it isn't, and then can't handle the crap when people point it out? Tough * :] - Micawber7294 years agoSeasoned Veteran
@X-Sunslayer-XSometimes. I just wish all that burn was directed at gfx manufacturers.
Talk about marketing! Ray Tracing has to be the most made up scam convincing everyone the awesomeness that you/we as consumers MUST have!!!
All at a low price 1200.00 after they sell out to scalpers lol
How much time did they spend on coding on this game for that crap which every one turns off?
Which imo could have been spent, time wise on releasing a more refined product that could be played by every one at 100+ fps.
Not to mention cross platform which I have no issue with but already the console’ers are crying foul, the PC’ers are crying foul etc.
I have fun playing this game, it’s playable on my old rig while needing some fixes along with serious optimizing so the player base can grow.EDIT:
When will the madness stop?
“GFX announces newest card with 8000 ghz CPU with 1000 GB ram! Now you can play our new bullet tracing that shows never before seen gfx to further own your opponent”
Suggested retail price 9999.99 some restrictions apply. No warranty expressed written or implied and no returns!
LIES!
- Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@LeMairyHuff The problem with your analogy is that a car won't work with only 3 wheels, BF2042 works (mostly).
Now whether you like it or not is a different matter.
The fact that your car doesn't have air con, occasionally misfires and has squeaky brakes doesn't change the fact that it is a working car that a bit of maintenance won't improve. - 4 years ago
@Trokey66The problem with what you're saying is that you're wrong.
My car may work with 3, but many others don't. Whether I like it or not is relevant to you since you're trying to get the point across which I am addressing.
No. What I see on the brochure and agree to purchase is what I should get on delivery day. A new car won't misfire and from factory should not have squeaky brakes (that's another topic). Aston Martin wouldn't sell a fantastic line of products to then sell a shody rebadged product, and even if they did, they would get backlash and rightly so. That's misleading. You're not just buying "a game". You're buying into a game franchise with expectations at specific levels which everyone understands. Maintenance from my side doesn't change the trash programming, design or core functionality to an improved state. What I've been given isn't really what was promised. By the legal definition, it may be, but do you really think people care about what is technically legal when they've been mislead purposefully? Doubt it.
The bottom line is, if you want to mislead people, prepare to take the hit because that is what will always happen. Fact. - Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@LeMairyHuff No, you bought a car, nothing more nothing less.
Despite all the literature, despite a test drive, despite the reviews available you ignored them a bought a car.
You expected more than what was on offer and now blame them for your own lack of due diligence.
You allowed yourself to be 'mislead' even though information to contrary was available. - GarfieldTehKat4 years agoSeasoned Veteran@Trokey66 I mean if we bought the game before there were any reviews....like I bought it day one of the early access, and they sold us a game that was barely playable. "Known issues" thread hasn't been updated since * December ffs when there are still so many issues
- 4 years ago
Trokey puts it this way …You allowed yourself to be 'mislead' everyone else just says they lied to you!
They blatantly lied to people and to say otherwise is just ridiculous
- 4 years ago
@Trokey66You'd be right if I wouldnt have bought the game if I knew its state would be like it is but thats not the case. I read the reviews and played the Test and decided to buy it because I saw its potential. Irrelevant point 🙂
Make as many excuses about how business is done legitimately but either way customers will punish your for being misleading, which they have done to EA quite clearly. Say goodbye to their reputation. 🙂
