In Battlefield 1 the suppression causes the weapon sight to move around and increases the spread. After playing a lot of Battlefield 1 I've come to realize I find suppression annoying and unfun.
I agree the gunplay in BFV and 2042 has become too laser beamy. Resolving this through carefully designed recoil and a small amount of spread is probably the best solution. Which would encourage burst firing over long range.
Rocket Jump Ninja recently did a video about all the annoying mouse movement and visual recoil in Apex Legends and how it causes player frustration. I found his opinion interesting.
