Hi all,
We don't really recommend using old, not up-to-date drivers for your GPU or CPU (or any other part of your system), as using outdated drivers may cause compatibility issues in the future.
It is at your own risk to continue using old drivers. If you run into issues because of this, unfortunately, we can't help much.
Keeping drivers up to date is always one of the first steps one should take to ensure that everything works together as well as possible.
Rolling back drivers is only recommended if you run into issues that new drivers have caused, as discussed here for example.

Hi @EA_Leeuw, as I wrote, I have issues with drivers newer than 512.95 on my Asus ROG Strix 3080. Not just with BF 2042, but with other games, too, such as Destiny 2 or Forza Horizon 5. So, forcing us using a driver which has compatibility issues not just with BF 2042, is just unacceptable. Please provide us with a solution or offer a refund for the game we can no longer play properly. Thank you!

Hey @KiRiASU,
Unfortunately, we cannot help with issues related to refunds through the forums. To do this, you must contact the seller or store where you purchased the product directly.
If you purchased this product from us, you can take a look at the available options here: https://help.ea.com/article/returns-and-cancellations/.I would also like to share the following: Known Issue - Nvidia Drivers - Version 531.18.

i get a kick out of them forcing a driver update which then breaks the game for some people. talk about an unforced error
- 3 years ago
Hi @EA_Leeuw, I have bought the game on launch day and spent already over 50 hours with it (which is not that much, but this is the game's fault, obviously). This is far beyond the refund window. Furthermore, it's an issue, YOU (by that I mean EA/Dice) introduced without any plausible reason. The game was perfectly fine with driver version 512.95, even season 4. Nothing was wrong with it. And all my other games are working, too, without any issues. That's how GPU's work! NONE of my hundreds of other, mostly recent titles (like Hogwarts Legacy, Returnal or Destiny 2 Lightfall) are forcing me on a specific driver version. Never have, never will. They'll recommend, sometimes, but NEVER force! This is just unacceptale. Revert it asap, it is totally unnecessary!

@EA_Leeuwi literally downgraded my NVidia driver even further - i pushed it back to the October 2022 release, and the game works just fine. I have no idea what the OP is even talking about, the game DOES NOT FORCE you to update the drivers.
I'm going to keep pushing it back further and further until the game or EA app says - nope, wont work.
DM Me if you would like to see a screenshot of the October Driver release and the game running. - AOD_CapStar3623 years agoSeasoned Ace@KiRiASU see my reply to Leeuw - the game DOES NOT Force you to update.
I reverted my drivers back to the October 2022 release, and BF is running just fine. - 3 years ago
@AOD_CapStar362IT IS! I want to use driver version 512.95, because with drivers later than that, Destiny 2 and other games giving me graphical issues and performance degredation. October 2022 is 522 or 526, my driver is from May 2022. It doesn't start! So that is that...
- AOD_CapStar3623 years agoSeasoned Ace@KiRiASU ill keep rolling it back till it says "Nope" but the fact the game is not forcing me to the NEWEST driver, puts a giant hole in the entire argument of this post.
it DOES NOT FORCE YOU to update, the very fact, ive been daily DDU'ing my driver and manually installing OLDER DRIVERS and the game runs JUST FINE, says otherwise. - AOD_CapStar3623 years agoSeasoned Ace@KiRiASU if the game is forcing me to newer drivers, how is it for the last 5 days, ive been going each major driver revision BACKWARDS and playing for hours at a time.
please do answer me that one, because I can EASILY prove it wrong. - AOD_CapStar3623 years agoSeasoned Ace@KiRiASU in fact, sit tight, i just downloaded your specific driver.
im gonna put this down once and for all - ill even upload a YT Recording of it. so lets see who says what is right. - AOD_CapStar3623 years agoSeasoned Ace
the very next driver - the initial September release 517.48 - the game would not launch. but the fact that im running on 526.47 at this point, just to show it WILL run on slightly older drivers negates the entire argument presented.
How or why when i tried 526.47 and it launched the game is beyond me, maybe the check is badly written, because it clearly says 528.02 as a minimum. take that up with DICE - also, i found some driver notes that explain why your 512.95 no longer works - the driver itself has de-gradated software libraries that the latest patch for 2042 cannot work with, those were installed with 528.02 as fully compatible. however, the fact i can get 526.47 to work just fine, tells me those same libraries are in even slightly older drivers than the minimum requisite.
okay so it wont run your beloved 512.95 - then you have a choice to make - find the second best driver that works on all your games, or take a loss and accept the fact, you played much longer than the refund rules allow for.
or you can go to Console and not have to worry about drivers period, that is the very nature of PC's - NOTHING is universal. Something will ALWAYS have an issue with another thing.
So, yes - you are right, 512.95 does not work.
I am also right that it is not the NEWEST drivers,
either way - 3 years ago@AOD_CapStar362 Either way, I know that driver 512.95 works perfectly fine with the most recent version of BF 2042. Same solution as with BF5, by the way... So you and EA/Dice are wrong.

@EA_Leeuwfurther diving into it, it actually does, but its not forcing the LATEST driver, its forcing 528.02 at the minimum, but i know now why.
there are 3 major manifest/library compiled language changes from 527.56 to 528.02
Battlefield just happens to rely on those Manifest/Library changes. all these older games @KiRiASU is speaking of, do not.
So KiRiASU and @MackTKau im sorry, but there is no way around this. You can either find a suitable second best driver for Destiny2 and your 3080, or you can pick and choose which games to stop playing.
The factual stand point is, BF is relying on these newer Driver manifest libraries - it CANNOT reliably work with the older ones. And it would cause an even BIGGER crap storm of support requests for EA And DICE to handle so the simple choice is - Mandate a Minimum Driver Revision. and Contrary to your statement "No Other game does this"
I can actually name NUMEROUS titles that ABSOLUTELY mandate this. Especially back in the 20 Series GPU releases when RTX Came about, as driver packages prior to RTX did not even support RTX, and cause massive amounts of problems with game titles from then and on going.
So yes, this IS a thing within the gaming industry that Mandatory Minimum Revision numbers are required.
@KiRiASU- now hold on - now you say you are playing BF with 512.95? So now you are lying about the fact BF Stopped you from playing unless you updated, but now you say you are playing?
Now I am going to call * to ALL of your claims. - AOD_CapStar3623 years agoSeasoned Ace@KiRiASU so you have been lying this entire time - if you are currently playing BF2042 with 512.95 you have made up all these claims that it stops you.
so again, im gonna call BS to all of your claims now. - 3 years ago

so again, im gonna call BS to all of your claims now.@AOD_CapStar362You really don't seem to understand. I didn't say I'm playing BF 2042 on driver 512.95 because the game suddenly lets me play with this version. I said, someone found a workaround for BF 5. And this workaround is working with BF 2042, too. Because EA did the same thing with BF 5 back then... And I knew EA/Dice won't help anyone here, so I needed to find a solution by myself. To make my 90 € purchase working again, you know. Business as usual with these devs nowadays, I'm afraid.
- AOD_CapStar3623 years agoSeasoned Ace@KiRiASU well hell, if i even knew that work around existed, i would have pointed you to it.
but hey, you solved your own problem, good for you, want a cookie? - AOD_CapStar3623 years agoSeasoned Ace@KiRiASU i understand far more than you think i do, ill give you that.
Now, putting all the past squabbling behind. what is this work around? ive been looking around for it..... care to share that? - EA_Leeuw3 years ago
