Disable crossplay by default on console

On console, crossplay should be disable by default. Any new player trying out Battlefield on console will not play long with crossplay enabled, then abandon and you will not see that player again in Battlefield. Any player that want to play with a PC friend can switch on crossplay, they will know where to find it in the game menu. Even with Battlefield free to play, people will still not play with crossplay on, because it is just not fun.

EDIT: if  crossplay was working, then a better default option would be to have crossplay on with console only, so Xbox and Playstation matchmaking together. People then wanting to play with PC friends can switch on crossplay with console and PC.

  • @Stew360 Sorry bud but don't agree with you on that. I'd probably say your average joe blogs player won't come onto these forums and take an interest in the games development, they don't know any different and simply just move onto another game. Throwing console players into the world of PC keyboard of mouse by default is basically fodder for them. Anyone who has the skill with a joypad (not me) to compete in that class "should then" switch crossplay ON themselves. As for the minority, I seriously doubt it as there has already been lengthy threads on this forum regarding this exact discussion.

They haven't even given console players native keyboard and mouse support, even this just amazes me. Talk about betting on the three legged horse in a race.

@xXGugusseXx Ah, yeah I forgot there was an option in Xbox UI to switch crossplay off and then It was added I think in the latest patch. I have heard some say that the online game isn't region locked and then some say it is, I personal think it will be.

@Jozso987 The Playstation player base alone absolutely dwarfs the PC community.

Best answer to this issue has been suggested multiple times. Make matchmaking dependent on input. M/K users across all platforms get to play each other and the experience for everyone is improved.
CoD has shown it can work, this should have been the standard EA/Dice strove for.
  • @Stew360 minority?! Every console player I talk to hate playing against pc, and of course you like crossplay, easy kills for you right? I think it’s hilarious that pc players all of a sudden bring up aim assist like it’s some type of cheat, most of the time you lose it trying to control your recoil lol m&k vs controller isn’t fair it’s been proven.

I found a way to play with crossplay on and no PC players on Xbox series, by installing the Battlefield 2042 Xbox One edition on my Xbox Series S.
