In order to run windows 11 you will need tpm 2.0.
I dont believe 2042 will require TPM, Though the requirement may change in a future patch.
But yeah to install and use windows 11, You MUST meet these requirements;
• Secure Boot must be enabled
• BIOS MUST be set to UEFI mode
• TPM 2.0 MUST be enabled
( either onboard or you must buy a TPM 2.0 module and plug it into the motherboard IF your motherboard has the headers )
Otherwise you'll have to stick with windows 10.
@LOLGotYerTags partly true... if you want to run windows 11 "legit", yes...
But you can easily run windows 11 just fine without all that :-/

@F3NN3XNope, The workarounds that have been doing the rounds ( registry entries for example ) have already been patched.
You CAN run and install windows 11 with a CPU that is below the minimum requirements, with one caveat,
You forfeit windows updates.
Other workarounds to install on unsupported hardware will be patched also.
:edit:
also take this from somebody who has done said workarounds to install 11 on a laptop with no secure boot option, no TPM, and the CPU is WAAAAY below minimum reqs
subsequent installs using the Beta build resulted in a failure to boot due to the patches that prevents the registry workaround.
Personally, If a user doesn't have the minimum requirements, It's best to wait it out and upgrade when they're able rather than risk incompatibilities.
Windows 10 is still plenty good enough for gaming in 2021 so there's no real NEED to jump to windows 11 IMHO.

@LOLGotYerTagsalso take this is as someone who just today installed the latest version of the official iso with easy modifications (there are other ways than reg edits) to install it on an "incompatible" no tpm, no secureboot no whatever old laptop, with updates working... so just because it did not work for you, do not mean it doesn't work... and if you do a quick search around the usual windows forums etc, you'll find plenty of other people doing the same 🙂 so yes, it works just fine
that said, i agree that win 10 is still more than enough for gaming and there is no REAL reason to update 🙂- LOLGotYerTags4 years agoHero@F3NN3X Ah the appraiser trick.
Best hope that file isn't replaced during a windows update ( it will )
Microsoft know about the workarounds, fyi.
