@LOLGotYerTagsalso take this is as someone who just today installed the latest version of the official iso with easy modifications (there are other ways than reg edits) to install it on an "incompatible" no tpm, no secureboot no whatever old laptop, with updates working... so just because it did not work for you, do not mean it doesn't work... and if you do a quick search around the usual windows forums etc, you'll find plenty of other people doing the same 🙂 so yes, it works just fine
that said, i agree that win 10 is still more than enough for gaming and there is no REAL reason to update 🙂

but i hope they utilize more hardware protections in their anti cheat strategy, to get rid of most cheaters.
we can prob agree on that we don't want cheaters in the game 🙂@F3NN3XOh absolutely, Cheaters ruin any game they come into contact with.
Honestly though, By using workarounds to run windows 11 on unsupported hardware, I feel it would be too risky from a consumer standpoint, Especially from a system security standpoint.
Not to mention that should microsoft patch the OS down the line, It'll only leave users ( like you ) stuck with an unbootable OS and you'll have to reinstall again until the update installs that renders the OS unusable yet again.
That's far too much of a headache and will only cause irritation, Surely the better option is to ensure your system meets the requirements to run it without using workarounds to begin with, But that's just me speaking logically.
Finally, I can't really see TPM being used to discourage cheating as it's just a security platform that checks file integrity to ensure non-signed applications aren't being run, The use of TPM is to ensure that PC's are less vulnerable to being hijacked with spyware / malware / worms / trojans and such.
I always say though with things like this ( TPM bypasses etc ) you do so at your own risk, Any glitches or bugs with games ( such as BF 2042 ) occur as a direct result, Would then be on the end user.
Personally I'd avoid bypasses altogether on windows 11, As we have no idea either as to how EAC ( or any other AC ) will respond to OS modifications at that level.- @LOLGotYerTags oh we agree sir, i will never recommend anyone running windows 11 not meeting the requirements, and on my daily driver i have tpm and all that jazz enabled. the laptop i mentioned is an old throw away for messing around with.
As for TPM being used for anti-cheat, idk know how that would work as there are actual workarounds, like using a dedicated TPM module, and then just buy a new one of those if you get caought cheating, so i guess TPM just would be a new "layer" to the hassle.
It is going to interesting tho to see how it goes for RIOT implementation it in their anti-cheat for Valorant
Any work around a will be soon undone with patch after patch so your always fighting just to keep your os running .
Agreed, TPM isn't going to stop cheating unless Win11 only lets you install apps signed by Microsoft on your computer similar to how Sony only allows apps signed by them to be installed on ps5.
Even if Microsoft did do that, the TPM is soldered onto the motherboard which leaves the copper circuit traces between the TPM and CPU open to attack and signal manipulation compared to consoles which have the TPM fabricated into the CPU itself.
All a TPM does is store public keys from Microsoft or Sony.
The signatures are created from Microsoft or Sony's private keys, which are not stored on the TPM.
Another word for key is password. So TPMs store Microsoft or Sony's public password which is used to validate signatures.
So the public key validates that the signature came from Microsoft or Sony's private key, without knowing what the private key/password is. Hence, RSA public/private key cryptography. Pretty amazing stuff.
But if Microsoft let's people download and run any software they want off the internet, then people are going to use that software to find Win11 kernel exploits and bypass TPM signature checks through kernel level software hacks. The signature check won't even make it to the TPM module, because the system call will get intercepted and redirected through a software hack running in the kernel.
