Due to this video I found out that the JDAM can be unleashed from a huge distance even if you do not yet see something and if there is a vehicle in that area the bomb will look for it on its own far in the distance. On this timestamp, this pilot uses 3rd person to aim a bomb at a very distant base symbol and a bit later a vehicle with a full crew blows up.
@UP_Hawxxeye Homing JDAMs is so stupid, oh my god. I thought there was some actual locking on at least, maybe they only worked on laser designated targets. Wow...

Before I saw the video I used to think you actually had to see and aim right a the target vehicle. But now I suspect that if 2 pilots with voice coms coordinate two of these stealth jets with JDAMs they could take out any ground vehicle from the other side of the map with a joint JDAM drop, especially if they for a third guy on the ground giving them pings on where a target is at.
- @UP_HawxxeyeAfter a lot of messing around and grinding, I unlocked the jammer. It won’t break a missle lock, but it will break a targeting lock. The RAM or ground can lock on pretty quick, so you need to pop the jammer on first then make your run. Once I got AGM I started to get more kills and have some fun. With the JDAM I can get some serious kills. 20mm AT for dogfighting, JDAM for ground. Only Kaleidoscope gives three jets, all others give two, and on those maps you can only pick one at a time, a jet or a Drauger. Until you get the jammer, it’s a sitting duck for anyone with AA and it’s not fun at all. I invented some new swear words getting that jammer. The stand off range is going to make the JDAM a pain for the vehicles. In portal, me and a buddy have been timing our runs where he hits them with EMP bomb and maybe some 20mm, then I finish with the JDAM. He gets the assists so will unlock sooner. Yes I’m a good buddy lol. When we can both JDAM it’s going to be bad news for the ground troops.

>An interesting bit of info is that the AGM on this particular jet is able to do even more damage than the JDAM in the case that the target is designated by someone else. Though I assume that is a huge IF because the other guy will still just activate countermeasures.
