I have bigger fears. The world is changing. Battlefield is like rock music. Less and less people enjoy it or appreciate it.
The other day I was playing conquest on discarded, and I watched a scene unfold on the big field. There was a tank, struggling against a helicopter and against another tank and infantry. Almost died but somebody jumped out of the tank and repaired the tank. Another guy started to shoot rockets at the helicopter trying to help out the tank. More and more people jumped in and the tank survived. It was amazing to watch the whole thing. That is my Battlefield, my rock music which less and less people care about.
Most people nowadays, see the tanks and helicopters and the weather as a distraction.
“ please don’t bother me or bug me while I am running and shooting between walls.“
This will destroy Battlefield. There is not enough players enjoying thie ‘battlefiled ‘aspect of gaming. Everybody wants fast paced run and gunning. Dice tries to do everything to make money. They have to cater as much as they can to the new crowd. Let it be micro transactions or cringe lines at the end of the rounds, etc.. they have to put a DJ on stage with Metallica. You know what I mean?
I don’t know if battlefield can be saved, it’s like doesn’t matter how good the next Metallica album is, I don’t think the radio suddenly will start to play rock music more. Dice is in a tough spot, even if they remaster battlefield 3 or battlefield 4, not as many people will play it as 10 years ago. They need to make money, they are a business. Good luck to them. I wish they will succeed somehow.

Pretty good analogy, which is I try to qualify some of my posts with the fact that it feels like i’m no longer their market audience. You know, the couple of 40+ year olds in the world buying games……..
- CloverDeuce3 years agoSeasoned Ace@FlibberMeister 50+ here...
- JOGAGATYA3 years agoSeasoned Ace@CloverDeuce Me too. Approaching 50 I play on the PlayStation 4 with other guys with a microphone. Just randoms. When I finally enjoy the game with someone, they like to talk, just like me, they don’t really enjoy just running and gunning, and they like the huge all out warfare. And they’re all around 50 years old.
- CloverDeuce3 years agoSeasoned Ace@JOGAGATYA Hit me up. I am usual on most evenings PST (Clover Deuce) Always got my mic on.
BUT... I did just purchase my 1st COD title ever because of how bad this has gotten, especially the past couple weeks with the insta-kills and 300m AM40 one shot deaths.
Hoping it gets better, but my faith is gone on this one unfortunately and I won't ever pre-order another BF title like I have since BC2 because of it either.

If they were smart, they would have two parallel BF titles running. One is a direct competitor to COD/APEX/PUBG etc, fast TTK, lone wolf stuff with a free-to-play component, then have the traditional BF title with a campaign and BF3/4 style gameplay and game modes, with updated graphics, destruction, and a small new twist like the "T-System".
And to think, in this title we got neither and the least amount of MP content ever in a BF title.
