Totally my sentiments too, it's maps that keep the game fresh and add to the ganes longevity.
In the past the community took Battlefield beyond the vision of the original design. But this is no longer the case, since EA and DICE appear to sabotage the community at every corner.

Sounds like their doubling down on this lunacy. might be a wile before I pay for another Battlefield.

Live Service is the biggest farce. It's ultimately releasing content at an incredibly slow rate just enough to say they are releasing new content.
The squad stuff is a perfect example. So they finally add something, but it, just like everything else, is half-butted. Only the ability to select a new squad and appoint a new Squad Leader if you are the Squad Leader. That's basically it. Big whoop. No kick function, no ability to take over as Squad Leader when the dude camping in the spawn is Squad Leader? - 3 years ago

i still think everything we got was what they had in the can for season 1 and they just spaced it out for 4 seasons so they didn't have to put resources into seasons 2-4. at least for the maps

The problem really started when all the game companies saw the money roll with GTA:V Online and wanted to achieve the same.
GTA:V Online was but a case of catching lightning in a bottle. Not even the ones who made it are having good odds of repeating this success in the future.
The initial Battlefield issue is that someone is pushing the games out of the door when they all need at least 6 more months of full time + full team development, 1 year in the case of 2042.
How do the decision makers expect to create a profitable live service if a lot of the less devoted players will abandon the title if it is not good enough at release.
2042 only now is about to almost get where it should had been at launch

Many of us have repeatedly stated how important it is to return the so-called mutiny feature to demote inactive squad leader. This is common sense DICE. You used to get it.
It bothers me that DICE doesn't acknowledge, or maybe even realize, that these features they get excited about adding to BF2042 were already in previous titles and have been removed. And like you said, they aren't even adding back the full functionality of said features.
It's the equivalent of a retailer marking the price up 100% and then hyping a half-off sale.

I’m still annoyed they lied about what 2042 was going to be (essentially piece of rubbish disguised as battlefield in name only) and ripped me of £60+. I was also less than impressed with the tone of voice in their denials of their false advertising and insane idea that 2042 was in any way anything anyone actually wanted or expected. So I have zero faith they are going to make anything I’d be interested in.
so nah. Very unlikely to buy or bother with any new battlefield efforts for some time, at least until I see their attitude change and expectations fall in line with what I’d expect from a BF game.
I was totally up for a BF universe. But I honestly don’t belief they got what it takes. - GrizzGolf3 years agoSeasoned Ace
I mean I hope the next one isnt as rough as the start of 2042 was but If we aren't getting another battlefield till 2024 most likely I hope they add a couple more seasons in 2042

He’s not saying anything at all, can’t you guys see it?
It’s 100% slick marketing-salesman-spreadsheet talk and 0% real content.
- ATFGunr3 years agoLegend@VOLBANKER_PCYou’re bang on there, it was sound bites dressed up as an answer but nothing definitive. The guy should be in politics.
Live service seems to be a promise to do as little as possible, and some of the money collected might get directed back to finish the actual game we pay up front for. No more preorders for me, that’s for sure. - UP_Hawxxeye3 years agoLegend@RayD_O1
This is important. If they do not get enough pre orders they might think twice before rushing the next game out of the gate - RMEChief3 years agoLegend
It seems that this entire team is completely tone death when it comes to their potential customer base. No wonder the player numbers are dwindling. We are almost back to pre Season 1 levels, which should be embarrassing for the team, but they could care less.

I’ll bet the hands-on people in DICE care and that they are simply victims of poor decisions coming above from executives in EA.

That approach sabotages the robust content delivery cadence that we become accustomed to over the years and gives us a barely functional watered down product instead of the fun community centric game with large feature sets and experience that gave Battlefield a cult following over the past 20 years.

yup. agile is basically "ship it, we'll figure out how to fix it later"

Man, if that is the case, no wonder this went into the toilet.

The bizarre thing is that they are constantly asking themselves why we don't like the current release and they fail to stop and look at when they started releasing half baked games with watered down feature sets and the decline of player sentiment.

I agree they moved way too far from the BF blueprint and removed so many core elements that made BF stand out from the crowd.
