EA/DICE, I’m heartbroken

I had so much hope for Battlefield 2042. I thought it would save the year with how amazing the trailers and marketing looked. But I realize that I was a fool for having faith in EA and DICE. So many broken promises. It’s just depressing at this point.

Looking past the myriad of game-breaking bugs and glitches, this game is flawed all the way down to the core.

There are only 22 weapons in the game. 22 weapons. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, only a fraction of that already minuscule amount are actually usable. Gun customization is lacking as well, with only 4 categories and half of the attachments having the exact same effects as each other. There’s such a lack of customization in this game that really hurts the replayability.

The gunplay is usually the most important aspect in an FPS game, but apparently not here. Random weapon bloom and poor kill feedback make gunfights genuinely not fun. The hitmarkers are weak and barely noticeable, and there’s no animated score counter or score bonuses, so your weapons lack a feeling of impact and getting kills feels unsatisfying & unrewarding, which absolutely kills the fun of the game.

There’s no levolution at all in this game. The huge explosions and buildings collapsing are nowhere to be seen in the final product. Maps are static. You can shoot a wall with a tank cannon and it just stays there unfazed. There’s no chaotic destruction and dynamic map-changing events. There’s no “next-gen destruction.”

The 7 maps are completely barren and way too big. You spend most of your time in a match running for minutes at a time to the next objective through huge, deserted swaths of land just to get sniped by a camper or killed by a hovercraft. There’s no cover or destruction, making the maps just feel so . . . lifeless. They’re boring. Bland, empty, and repetitive. Not to mention, there’s literally only TWO MODES in the main game! And we didn’t get a campaign! The sheer lack of content in this game is infuriating to the entire playerbase. This game just isn’t worth $60-$110. It feels like a pre-alpha that we’re expected to pay to playtest and then slowly get drip-fed more content (that should be in the game at launch) over time.

Specialists are terrible, and everyone knows it. They’re another way to aggressively monetize an already full-price game, and kill any immersion. They act like war is a fun game, with the same snarky, cringe-inducing end of round voice lines, and every match you see dozens of the same character running around with no distinction between factions.

And some of the gadgets just don’t make sense for a Battlefield game. This isn’t supposed to be Overwatch with clones, it’s supposed to be Battlefield. Dozer can just camp in a corner and block tank shots, Paik can straight up wall-hack, and Sundance can throw a grenade in a vehicle’s general direction to destroy it instantly. They’re the wrong choice for this game. They’re only here to sell skins and make more money off of us.

I’m heartbroken that this is what the Battlefield Community has been given. After sticking with the series for so long, through every disappointment , it’s painful to see us insulted by EA/DICE.

  • Please EA/DICE, fix your game. There’s nothing here to justify the price. There’s so much missing content and features that should have been here at launch, and now the community is rightfully outraged. We don’t want to be drip-fed content that should have been in the game from day 1 and pay for microtransactions. We’re already paying upwards of $60, we don’t want more monetization. Please, for the good of the players and your reputation, get your game up to par with previous Battlefield titles. Thank you.

  • XD I have to agree completely have played the game to level 21, the incessant kicking you out at the end of each multiplayer round is a right pain. Who thought that player would constantly want to rejoin Games....... bored already two weeks in and going back to V and call of duty. The game is very disjointed and with the continual changing of players there isnt really any team play.

  • @DeadRedUKYeah, there’s so many poor design choices in the game that just didn’t need to be made. It makes me wonder if any of the devs actually playtested the game.

@XD-DAWG11 When you see macro errors like maps that are impossible to win in breakthrough it's proof that no quality check or proper play testing was done.
  • FYI you can call in a vehicle by hitting B, for those long runs on the maps.

Actually a great feature no one seems to talk about...

@XD-DAWG11 they won't do anything, all of EA games now are bad their greed did already blind them, they'll try their best to ignore us , it was the OG dice who made you a loyal player and majority of them are gone man , EA for me and many players is nothing but a greedy company sadly just say goodbye to battlefield and either go play something else or if you're like me playing nothing but battlefield then rip gaming
  • @XD-DAWG11 32 player rush/domination and 64 player conquest/breakthrough should be the core game.

Go take a look in bad company 2 and battlefield 3 in terms of map design please. Cause what you’re giving us now is just an ugly game without a soul and its just shamefull.

Fix the maps! Stop the 128 player madness! Its useless to have 128 players running around like headless chickens without squadplay and bad performance.

Decrease player count so the rest of the game rund smooth and put some more time and effort in the map design.

Hope you can make it right!

    A fan! Ptfo!
