EOD Bot Remote resupply/loadout swap from crate

Is this supposed to be a thing? I drive up on Angel's crate to go kill an enemy resupplying, and as I go to zap them, it opens up the resupply window. So just for fun, I decide to change my loadout ...

  I look pretty comical following Angels around the battlefield waiting for them to drop a crate, and of course, they don't. Just tried several times, and now no one is dropping crates. Ugh. Will try to test Boris and Crawford, but I suspect it will work because it is the same gadget.
