This is what I'm thinking too, I didn't have any connection issue before, then the last game I played before I got the ban were having lots of connectivity issue.
They clearly didn't test anything in situation, last month Beta didn't even have the EAC, my guess is that most of the delay wasn't about fixing the bugs (a few months ago they were saying the were ahead of schedule on the game dev) but about the late integration of the EAC, with the pre-release working as a beta.
They didn't even plan enough servers for the early access release hence the persistance data and quotas errors (while they knew the number of pre-orders...)
Half-assed development and complete lack of transparency is the trend of this decade.
