Players will come if the game is fixed properly.
It happened with BF4
- 4 years ago@UP_Hawxxeye That was a long time ago, and BF4's issues were more technical in nature whereas BF2042 faces both technical and extensive design problems that will take far more time to fix.
Also, there's a lot more competition for attention/money compared to when BF4 launched. The insanely steep dropoff of players in 2042 shows this, because it's highly unlikely that BF4 lost 95%+ of its playerbase in the first 4 months. Because like, they were getting new content at this point...while we're waiting on a * scoreboard.- UP_Hawxxeye4 years agoLegend@edgecrusherO0 in BF4 you could not enjoy that content though due to crashing
- 4 years ago@UP_Hawxxeye You'd hope that DICE would improve the quality of the games they ship in the decade since releasing BF4, usually companies are expected to get better at what they do over time.
But in the case of BF2042, we've seen regressions both in terms of bug count and, more worryingly, basic game design.

That's exactly how I feel too. They just gotta speed it up
- RMEChief4 years agoLegendIf you give a developer a deadline or tell them speed it up, they will ragequit. I've seen it first hand.

While BF4 had a very substantial number of bugs from launch, many even 'game breaking' (aka blue screen crashing types), then BF4 had all the bells & whistles from the get go in terms of basic game designs, many great maps, ton of weapons and vehicles, and all their belonging accessories/unlocks. It had a meaningful XP system and soldier ranking ups, classes and related unlockable gadgets, scoreboard and award system, most assignments were great.
Very importantly the whole gaming community was engaged through the Battlelog.com environment, with clans, VOIP and meaningful squad teamplay options, easy to use comrose features etc etc. On top, despite the buggy start, EA/DICE kept dropping meaningful patches to close them off one after the next in very rapid fashion.
And moreover, the additional BF4 contents and BF4 DLCs with many more new great maps and weapons and vehicles still dropped to us on plan; which ensured to keep the community engaged and inspired to keep coming back for more! Not at least because the whole BF game design and BF fundamentals were there and made sense!!!
All the mission critical stuff for a vast majority of seasoned BF players for this to be a Battlefield game, which EA Execs now relegated to be 'legacy Battlefield features' and therefore arrogantly had decided to scrap from BF2042...
Back in the days with BF4, players kept staying around (they never really left, as they have done with BF2042) because the right BF fundamentals were there, and EA/DICE kept launching per plan the exciting new DLCs for BF4, kept it alive and inspiring with bugs being fixed by the day, new good maps being added, fun new weapons, gadgets and vehicles being added with each new DLC. Not so this time around with BF2042, because EA/DICE have gone MIA and the fundamentals are totally missing or so flawed in this gamepack that even very ardent BF fan sees no hope in that this wreck and 98% have left already here 100 days after launch.
