Also, there's a lot more competition for attention/money compared to when BF4 launched. The insanely steep dropoff of players in 2042 shows this, because it's highly unlikely that BF4 lost 95%+ of its playerbase in the first 4 months. Because like, they were getting new content at this point...while we're waiting on a * scoreboard.
- 4 years ago@UP_Hawxxeye You'd hope that DICE would improve the quality of the games they ship in the decade since releasing BF4, usually companies are expected to get better at what they do over time.
But in the case of BF2042, we've seen regressions both in terms of bug count and, more worryingly, basic game design.- UP_Hawxxeye4 years agoLegend
@edgecrusherO0it is simple
The frostbite engine is a nightmare and EA fails to motivate the guys who know it to keep working at DICE.At the same time the management puts directives to chase every freaking FPS trend

@UP_HawxxeyeAfter spending 18 months improving it, you'd hope that it's better. But I find it hard to chalk up most of the problems to Frostbite since, again, a lot of the issues facing the game are very basic, fundamental design problems.
I mean, DICE was out there bragging about the improvements pre-launch, I guess maybe they were lying?

True that BF4 had a lot of issues but it had a roadmap ! Thus the core of BF4 was a BF game. They will have to change the whole core of 2042 to
get players interested in investing time. But IMO they will let it die with a few updates and that was the end of something that should never have been released....

One quick fix could be to include a few maps from BF3/4 into AOW - particularly Infantry only maps.
- RMEChief4 years agoLegend@Lancelot_du_Lac they could also list the AOW maps/servers in Portal and allow you to join thru the Server Browser there.
I would love to see older maps added to AOW and play them with the current specialists and vehicles.
