This week for Flashback Conquest we are increasing the Player Count to 128 Players on Current Gen platforms (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC)
This change will take place from Monday, May 16th to Thursday, May 19th at which point a new Battlefield Portal Featured Experience rotation will take place.
We believe Battlefield Portal is all about experimentation and continuously working on Experiences alongside the Community. With that in mind, we are testing out an increased player count for Flashback Conquest, and we'd like to hear from you if you feel this increase of players within Flashback Conquest is a step in the right direction for Flashback Conquest or not.
We'd also like to discover any further improvements that could be made to Flashback Conquest, and hear your suggestions around the Featured Experience.
Import everything from Portal to All out Warfare that fits into the 2042 setting. Maps, guns, gadgets, vechicles...
CQ Flashback is the most popular mode in Portal and that says a lot. People want to play on the superior remastered maps. But still, the servers are never full, not even in EU servers, which are one of the most active servers.
As much as those modes in Portal are popular and people like them, PORTAL is still the SIDE MODE in the game, and will never be populated as the main game mode - AoW
There is so much stuff that could easily fit into AoW, but it is sitting there almost unused in Portal. It's a pitty.
The game lacks so much content and you still are unnecessarily dividing it from each other, and by that you are splitting the already miniscule playerbase.
Portal is a good idea if the game was a big hit and there would be hundreds of thousands of players, but we all know what it is, so bringing everything in one place and making in THERE some adjustments/categories/ is the right move imo.
@T0TALfps Since ADS bug is still occurring on portal, it can get very frustrating to play this mode atm… but I will try the 128 players without weapon attachment and provide a feedback
For Portal Maps, i think that 128 players (64vs64) is just too much and it does not play well in 64 player designed maps (such as BF3 and BC2 maps). With 128 players it is hard to play strategic and impossible to defend a position. The reason for this is that objectives become swarmed with players. And moving from
objective to objective is near impossible. As a result, every objective feels like a mindless Call of Duty game.
Feedback 2:
2042 All Out Warfare map sizes are alright, but DICE really has to scale it back to 100 player (50vs50). This would be a perfect player count for the current map sizes and allow player to play it strategically. 128 players does not allow player to capture and hold objectives and its most certainly not possible to move from flag to flag without coming across 20 enemy players or vehicles that try to kill you.
From my experience this is the first Battlefield that does not allow players to move from flag to flag without a vehicle (or else they die). Again, even though the maps are larger, 128 players feels like a mindless Call of Duty game around every other objective.
(NOTE: Armored Kill DLC from BF3 also included 4 large maps (Some even larger than BF2042), but still played perfect with 64 players).
Feedback 3 (unrelated but important):
Lower player count will also free up some CPU resources which will improve stability and performance across all systems. Furthermore, DICE can also choose to allocate the free CPU resources toward better graphics for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series consoles.
Currently, the graphics have been a huge let down and I personally have never experienced so much pop-in in a modern Battlefield game since BF3. This is especially true on the PS5 and Series X where the graphics have been downgraded since the BETA.
Here are some distracting graphical problems with the game on the Series X and PS5:
Shadow Pop-in within 15-20meter distance:
Walking from 20m to 15m massively pops in shadows:
Shadow Pop-in within 15-20meter distance:
Walking from 20m to 15m massively pops in shadows:
Foliage pop-in (constantly popping in!!!):
Going from 18m to 13 massively pops-in foliage short grass: this is evident in all foliage rich maps such as Orbital, and did not exist in the BETA in PS5 and Xbox Series X:
A solution to the PS5 and Series X graphics can be solved as follows:
- The currently available mode can be called "balanced mode" which aims something in between performance and graphics. (Nothing has to be changed here as it is now on the PS5 and Series X. Based on our testing, a PC equivalent of LOW, MEDIUM AND HIGH settings are currently used on the PS5 and Series X).
- For those who love graphics, an optional "Fidelity mode" can be used that targets a very slightly higher internal resolution and graphical fidelity targeting 45-60fps on the PS5 and Series X. Here some graphical settings such as shadow draw distance, terrain and undergrowth quality can set to PC equivalent to HIGH and ULTRA (as the performance hit between High and ULTRA is only 10% on PC).
Balanced and Fidelity modes are almost an industry standard on next gen consoles and are present in 90% of the games released post 2021. If other studios and games allow it, so can DICE. Options are good and allow players to experience their games to their liking.
NOTE: graphics in the BETA were significantly higher on the Series X and PS5 and have been downgraded since launch. In particular, shadow quality, terrain quality, undergrowth and internal rendering resolution have been hit significantly.
128 players can still work, in my opinion. The trouble is the vehicle balancing. I made a post about this a few weeks ago. With the older maps having fixed vehicle spawns, they all had consistency. You expected to encounter particular vehicles on particular maps; Caspian had tanks and jets, Valparaiso had APCs and transport helicopters. With DICE's issue of player choice, the balance gets thrown out wth window, with every type of vehicle being available on every map. The maps weren't balanced for tanks on Valparaiso, or jets on Arica Harbour. I think it would go a long way to match the vehicle types that the original incarnations of the classic maps had during their releases.
It would also be great to be able to use all the weapons in Portal and not be limited to one Era... that is... Play with the BF2042 specialists but be able to use BF2042, BF3 AND BC2 weapons in the same game, in principle only the weapons , and some gadget would be interesting... this would give freshness to the game until summer when the new content comes
Please stop focusing on player counts and bring more maps to infantry. BF1. BF4 BF vietnam etc…. 128 players is chaotic and less fun. More content is going to make us happy and keep us playing and most of all HAPPY
Hi! The 64 player modes are much more fun. The community DOES NOT want the 128 player mode. Please bring Flashback Conquest back to 64 players. Maybe a few more players, no problem. For example 72...80 players, no more. But the 128 player modes are horrible and on PC they really slow down the performance.
