Vehicles in general need a lot of attention. I personally don't think vehicles should heal on their own as it makes the repair tool pointless.
The amount of flairs, speed, and maneuverability makes helicopters in general a pain to deal with. It takes someone with a SOFLAM and 10 players with recoilless to even stand a chance against good pilots. And most the time if you do hit them, all they need to do is drop out of bounds and wait ten seconds and come back into the fight at full health again.
I have had to change my whole playstyle in this game to just be antivehicle otherwise you just lose.
