Ok I'm a BF vet. Purchased EVERY main BF gamed since Bad company 2 (even though I didn't play bf1 and bfv because I dislike the timeframe... I still purchased them to show love to the company though)...

@Skitzotech What you’re doing with the setting in Windows audio is to compress the audio in Battlefield 2042. Loud sounds like explosions get reduced in volume and quiet sounds like footsteps get boosted.

Is me buying a monitor that has 600nits and hdr cheating?
It displays more than 60% more of the rgb color spectrum than most monitors out there... is that cheating?
Is buying a 280hz monitor, allowing me to see more than 4 times the usable frames than most other gamers cheating in your world?
"Hearing footsteps better is cheating" Then buying a bigger monitor is also cheating... BAN EVERYONE!

Enhancing footstep audio means you can hear people way before they can hear you.

Buying an expensive headset means you can hear better than the average player so... CHEATING!
Buying a keyboard whose buttons have a higher actuation point than others means... CHEATING!
Buying a controller with a lower latency radio means.... .... CCCCCHEATINGGGGG!
Now that I got the "making fun of the babies" its time for the serious part. I'm done talking to trolls here... all of you will be ignored from this point forward. Only the ones who have ACTUAL input will be paid any mind.@Skitzotech If you play with good headphones, you can hear things better _but the relative volume between loud and soft sounds is the same_ . That’s the difference, and that’s what’s important.
With good headphones you can still only crank up the volume ever so far because otherwise explosions become so loud they rip your hearing apart 🙂 This limits how audible footsteps will be for you no matter what headphones etc. you’re using.
With your audio enhancement you can crank up the volume much more because loud sounds are reduced in volume. And since low sounds are already boosted in volume from the start with your audio enhancements, footsteps become “extra extra” much easier to hear for you.
