Can't live service a dead game
EA and live service just dont mix... look at what happened to Anthem. They said they would support it for years and it never even got its 2nd chance...
But yeah... the game shouldnt have released like this and they should have had content ready to drip feed us because the current lifespan of games is very short.
Live service has always been a con. The premium model was superior regardless of what the paid shills and detractors said. BF3/BF4 was the highlight of premium DLC and for the time it was playable had the most content of any Battlefield imo. The argument of a "split player base" is mute with cross-play. The player base would have been large enough to support it.
Live service is just a cheap way to keep a continued revenue stream with cheap trinkets (Gun camos, uniforms, insignias) and the occasional map. I hate the live service model and everything it represents. Tying you down to a "Battlepass" after you have already paid full price for the game, a battlepass which is engineered to be so time consuming, and difficult to complete that you either A have to play the game 24/7 or B what they really hope for, is you will purchase your way to the end (* off)
Having this same issue with the Rip-Off merchants at Wargaming.net. World of Warships legends. I'll never complete thier Battlepass or what ever it's called without sinking more hours than I really care too in order to pick up the ship (HMS Minotur) at the end! But sure I can speed up the procress with a few Doubloons (Gold) aka Cash money! It's a farce
