I know that people like 'things' but I'll admit I haven't bought a physical game for 8 years now (and I don't miss the disk faff). 😉

@SofaJockeyUKonly thing i disagree with is that they have found a way to sell you something you dont physically own.. a digital asset is nothing. people complained about when they were going to raise the price of video games to $80 USD and they actually did do that by not selling you something physical. saving them money in production. sheep will be sheep. i just want something physical of this edition.Exactly right @iiBullFrog ,
Unfortunately then EA don't care to bother about all the trouble it is to design, produce, distribute and sell physical items like a gold-plated BF2042 Gold Edition case and DVD.
It could otherwise have been really cool with the "Ultimate Ultimate BF2042 Limited Edition" diskset version, being a shiny platinum hard-case with stylish BF silk prints and platinum discs inside with the game and all documentaries and media files, music and all.
But no, they just run it cheap.

You are showing your age @CyberDyme ! I've ditched all my game CDs and Music CDs after copying them to drives. I'm guessing you're 50+. I'm in my mid 60's, you have to roll with the times, and hopefully I don't need a collection of plastic to prove I'm a real fan.
- 4 years ago@lzilchetl It isn't about "proving" anything about being a "real fan." Some people, like me, just prefer to have something we can hold in our hands, if we're going to be shelling out serious money for it.
When the discs are gone, the platform companies' stores are going to be the gatekeepers of the games--and we all know what lack of competition does for the consumer (typically, it means higher prices). Also, there will be no more used games to sell, and no more to buy at discount prices.
Yeah, I prefer a physical copy.

Not sure where the "For the real fans" comes from.
Whilst I understand wanting something tangible to hold, a digital library is far more convenient.

To each their own I would say, but EA DICE is going to follow the money and if the physical discs underperformed in the past, they will naturally move away from them…- 4 years ago
I prefer disc versions, but it appears there won't be one for the Gold or Ultimate. I pre ordered the standard and will just purchase whatever content I will miss out on by not going digital.
Basically I'll just miss out on playing a few days earlier. Not a deal breaker for me.
