Forum Discussion
I’ve read lots of discussion around this topic. Has there ever been an official response?
" if you do not want to play cross-platform, disable it"

Forced crossplay is an untrue heading as you can turn it off at any time. But mouse and keyboard inputs are broken right now so we don't enjoy a clear advantage.

Strongly disagree.
On Xbox consoles (unlike PlayStation 5) you are automatically "opted-in" to PC & console crossplay, there is no prompt (unlike on PS5) and many players do not even know you can turn the setting off.
The toggle was also missing at launch and only recently added to the game, in the interim many players already quit the game or switched to the Xbox One / PS4 version of the game IoT avoid PC players.
If you decide to opt-out you can no longer play with either PlayStation or PC, if you do this due to many players being unaware you will wait forever for a game, there isn't a lack of players (as approx 30% of players in all matchmade games are console) but there is a lack of available players due to the way crossplay was / is implemented which effectively makes the decision for you
As stated in the title, if you want to play the game you have paid for, you are effectively FORCED into crossplay with PC.
"But mouse and keyboard inputs are broken right now so we don't enjoy a clear advantage"
PC players have a HUGE advantage, it's highly visible in the end of round scores and it's incredibly apparent when you're a console player trying to compete against players on PC, it's absolutely miserable for the average player, there may be exceptions to that rule for the 1% of incredible players on console, but for the majority of us, PC players gain a huge and unfair advantage in all aspects of gameplay.
I do not know if your input on PC is broken as you stated, but I will take you at your word as another poster made the same comment.
However, taking you at your word simply means that things will only get worse for players on console once the issues are rectified and strenghens my argument that player should have the ability to opt-in to crossplay (providing they are happy) but the default should absolutely be opt-out.
Having this option would allow players that are happy to opt-in and play against mouse and keyboard players but the many of is that are not and are currently unhappy with our purchase should have this option so we can make an informed choice that doesn't render our purchase obsolete.
- X-Sunslayer-X4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Blasteroids if you as a consumer can't even be bothered to go trough your options or look up if said crossplay is optional, then not a single human alive can help you and odds are these players do not care enough to begin with

"the offical statment would be as followed " if you do not want to play cross-platform, disable it""
Appreciate the input but this post is not really helpful.
I raised a legitimate concern for myself and other players of the game that are currently unhappy with BF2042 due to the way crossplay is effectively forced in the game.
I explained clearly why just "disabling it" is not a valid solution in my original and follow up post.- 3 years ago
So all of these people that purchased BF2042 and do not enjoy crossplay with PC chose to stop playing the game instead of turning it off and playing with other console players, and it is the developers job to flip the crossplay button off in the options for all players?
This seems ridiculous to me, but I too would like an official dev response.
To me it just seems like most people playing BF2042 do not mind crossplay being on.

What OP is getting at is not that crossplay is enabled by default. It's that it brings PC into the mix as well. I'm pretty sure OP wants crossplay enabled but just between the consoles.
