I created a post on this topic myself because I feel the same way. I've replied to others to try and give the thread traction.
At the end of the day, Battlefield at its heart is a team-based shooter. It's not unreasonable at all to expect visibly different soldiers in each team (in fact, it's highly logical).
Ultimately, BF2042 is going to have two factions squaring off, where identical units are present on both sides. Relying on the HUD can be done, but it's still nonsense that you have to do that rather than just look at the uniform.
I genuinely think people saying they don't care are just being apologist fan-boys. You don't care that the opposite team is visibly indistinguishable from your own?
I honestly can't think of another AAA team based shooter where this is possible. It's never happened in Battlefield before - so why is it happening now?
"Should we make the same specialists wear different uniforms when representing different factions? - Nah, the HUD will indicate friend from foe for them, plus everyone will buy skins and there will be enough variety nobody notices". - This is basically the play.
I think they should play into the 2042 and specialist angle and create some story on why specialists on each side look the same. And then as was said earlier and something I also mentioned before, is create a specialist that has an ability to tell friend from foe.
...because in the beta I thought not knowing who was who created some fun tension and excitement. I shot at my own team quite a few times. Other times I killed enemies who seemingly didn't know I was an enemy and vice versa. And as someone said, who knows how many players passed each other not knowing they were enemies.

I meant it as a joke.

Ok I didn't. I think that could be turned into something interesting and fun. And would fit into some near future theme. Perhaps a little too sci fi for 2042.

So Boris is the no pat engi, make a new specialist that is the other faction but give same gadget and stuff.- SirBobdk4 years agoSeasoned Ace
When people start buying skins, we'll probably look like each other again. Unless they make them fraction locked. Hard to see what Dice has in mind, but it seems wierd.

- 4 years ago@R1ckyDaMan19 They are all no-pats fighting for two different factions. So the lack of distinction between friend and foe is totally in line with the background story. I’m am not saying it’s a good thing though.. I too would like different outfits on the battlefield. I will await judgement till I have played it a bit though. I usually have a pretty good feeling of where I have allies around me and where enemies will come from, so it might turn out to not bother me at all.

@mesterKGI'm not following the lore as I have no interest in it, so my idea stands, each faction should have a unique looking equivalent to every specialist and I'm not talking camo.
