Game is a 10/10 ...
so far. Really is an amazing design. And the fun is back. I like the Specialists. I like the maps. I like the new vehicles. I like the gadgets. I like the 20 years into the future theme. .....

@trip1ex Wrong. BF1 was a 10/10, 2042 is hardly pushing a 6/10.
If you feel that way good for you, but a 10/10 means spot on in every way, this feels like a MMO review score from someone who's just gotten out of the newbie zone.
(see user reviews for new world as an example, people with low playtime find it fantastic, people who have hit the 40+ grind go "is this really it?")
The closest we've gotten (imo, as you can see from other posters tastes vary, unsurprisingly, and nothing wrong with it either) is BF3, and that was hardly 10/10 on launch, or even at it's peak, but it was at least close.
This, based on the weapon balance alone is nowhere near a 10, but that is of course only my opinion.
If you had to make me give it a score right now It'd be a 5, with portal doing a lot of heavy lifting to get it there.
I expect it to land somewhere around 5 to 7 once the dust settles (if they make some solid QoL choices in the near future) simply because everything from map flow to guns and vehicle balance is a complete mess, and I'm not even including the technical issues in that assessment as i expect nothing less from a BF launch.
That being said, unlike every BF before it (including those i wasn't a huge fan of) there was an obvious underpinning that you could see had some saving graces.
Right now the closest (imo, again) we have to a saving grace is that there's an alternative to core and HZ, and though i think they might managed to make core seem less than a slog over time, HZ i think is going to be a dud.
So yea, glad you're enjoying it, but a 10/10 it is objectively not.

- @ghinavirus He's been around for years and hasn't always been this supportive, perhaps he genuinely likes the game and thinks a lot of the negative stuff is over blown Gentleman's dangly bits because he wouldn't be the only one.

Wish I could finish a single game to rate it. Unfortunately every game crashes within 5-10 minutes of playing. Worse still EA help has refused a refund for an unplayable game. Apparently steam is refunding games. Buy through them as EA is NOT refunding even though this game is unplayable for some users. BF1 & BF 5 works fine with my current set up.
- @Fringerunner Well, I’ve been watching everyone and took off here for a while just monitoring chatter. I played the trial, and I can say with the utmost sadness, that this might be the very first iteration of BF, that I think I am just not digging. I hope that changes through some much needed work to the game as it exists, until then though. I guess I’ll just keep my ear to the ground. I’d say it was a 4/10 seriously though. Sadly, very disappointed. I just really, really want to like it and I just can’t bring myself to.
For a newbie who didnt play bf1 / bf4 / bf3 its maybe a 7 / 10
For ppl who played the previous battlefield, its 3 / 10.
Who even gave the greenlight to launch this game in this state ? Unpolished unfinished with such a huge quantity of missing features...
I guess gg on joining the cp 2077 club, marketing did great job the rest not so much.
- @gruntbrews_vicv We've had this talk before back after the test, so you know my take on the process we've seen up to now (I certainly remember yours :D), but I'm more or less doing the same as you now vs the amount of debates we had after tech/before beta.
I wasn't a huge fan of 1/5 (or battlefront..) but i gave them both time before i came to that conclusion, doing the same now with this.
Might make a post like ragnarok did after the beta with some constructive points once we're a bit into launch and we see what QoL changes or maybe gameplay changes or additions are made, but we'll see, might just save myself the time and re-link ragnarok's post-beta summary as that more or less nailed it back then.
I did find it rather funny that we hit cap on portals seeing the what we were going back and forth about a few months ago, almost like some of these problems would be greatly alleviated by having rentable servers 👿
I do think they can make core workable, though i from how it feels now it feels very much like how 5 felt on launch.
Fun with friends, but it's playing with those friends that's really generating the fun, not the game drawing us in even in portal.
Best way i can illustrate it is up to 4, most of us would get on finding one or more already playing, now (much like 1 and 5) it's always a phonecall or a message or two to round people up before we hop ingame, none of us are playing it solo if nobody else is on, and that to me is 1/5 territory.
I am genuinely hoping for some solid QoL changes in the coming month, but that ball is now entirely in Dice's court, we've been giving feedback since the tech test and most of that still stands, so we'll see what they do.
