so far. Really is an amazing design. And the fun is back. I like the Specialists. I like the maps. I like the new vehicles. I like the gadgets. I like the 20 years into the future theme. .....

I'd give it a solid 8 if they can get the issues fixed and a proper matchmaking/server browser system in place.

BF 2142 8/10 (yes I thought the game was good, so what)
BC2 7,5/10 (I hate small maps)
BF3 9/10 (BC2 with larger maps)
BF4 8/10 (BF3 simply had more in everything)
BF1 minus10/10
BFV 6/10 (the planes have broken the game)
BF 2042 8/10 (if DICE still makes some effort)

BF 2142 9/10 (Titan mode!! Maybe the best mode in BF)
BC1 9/10 (really great entry into console space)
BC2 7/10 (maps way too linear unlike BC1 with Oasis, Harvest Day, etc.)
BF3 8/10 (BC2 with larger maps lol! Back to Karkand! Armored Kill!!)
BF4 9/10 (spot on Battlefield from day on....the day they fixed the servers! So many instant classic maps from Paracel Storm and Golmud Railway all the way through to Final Stand and Dragon Valley 2015!And don't forget the most iconic server in BF history...Explosive Lockerhea 24/7 Operation Locker! You can't handle the truth! LOL!!)
Didn't get past the beta on Hardline, BF1, or BFV lol- @Donidon I feel like those who don't like BF1 have the emotional depth of a dull door knob.
Been gaming since 2001 and BF1 is without questions an absolute masterpiece. BF1 was a passion project, music, sound design, trailers flowed in combination illustrating the brutality and darkness of war.
You don't even have to be a gamer to appreciate the trailers from BF1.
In 5 years time, don't see people talking positively about 2042 like how many still talk about Battlefield 1. BF1 should be a benchmark for future Battlefield games. Dice could've re-skinned BF1 with BF3/BF4's formula for 2042 and the game would've been amazing.
2042 is fun, but it's not going to be a memorable game such as BF1 or BC2. There's no depth or atmosphere to 2042, it's just another shooter.Try in reddit 10/10
- @RacialAdhesive- Most (if not all) who didn't like BF1 just didn't like the setting and wanted the franchise to continue on with modern weapons. But for the time period they tackled (hadn't been done before) they absolutely nailed it.

Anyway glad I didn't preorder the game. I hope they fix most of the issue but I wonder how much is already baked into the game that can't be fixed.

I've got 2042 sitting at about a 2.5/10.
The game is literally just a shell of a BF title. Way Way Way too many missing features to rate it any higher.
And who came up with these characters for the specialist? Geez man they're so terrible. This game is so disappointing on so many levels.
@DonidonI'm not a religious man, but calling 2142 bad (aside from the LMGs) is just heresy, full stop.
(so this isn't confusing, it's in reply to the "i liked it" bit, most people i play with still list it near the top of the titles in general)
Still has the best optional game mode in the franchise in titan.@FringerunnerTitan mode is my favorite mode in the series, one of my favorite shooter modes period. So good. Yeah 2142 was excellent. It's my second favorite BF behind BF2. They took Battlefield to the distant future in a way that worked so much better than anyone expected. All this recent noise about wall running and jetpacks, etc.? Not even an issue. Boots on the ground with extreme tech advancements that never broke the immersion or balance we were used to from Battlefield.
Actually, my biggest gripe with this game is I don't see enough of BF2142 DNA here. Titan mode MUST RETURN! Enjoy!
Whatever...might as well drop this in too. DICE we need more of this in BF2042! You teased it in Final Stand DLC way back in BF4 with even a Titan in Hangar 21. Lets see some connections happen here.
