Game sharing early access

I bought the gold edition and console share with a friend of mine. We both have it downloaded into our consoles. Will he have early access as well or does he have to wait the week?

Thanks for any info!

  • @BrianH1970Your friend will have Early Access to Battlefield 2042 if they have a qualifying game version redeemed to their account.

The pre-order and Edition bonuses and perks are account-bound and not platform-bound.

So ultimately, your friend can play early if you are willing to let them play using your account…

  • @BrianH1970 you sharing the same gamertag, if he didnt buy it on his conslole he would have to be on your account while youre off
  • I can’t give an official answer but I can say that my friend has purchased the game and with the game share when I open the Xbox store I can only manage and install from the 2042 Gold edition page. Also the Gold edition doesn’t come with any addons that actually signify it’s a separate edition so I do believe the early access should work for both people.

  • @BrianH1970 Ok if you are doing it the same way you share other games than you should both be able to play it on Friday when it releases. Can't guarantee anything until then though.

However the cosmetics might only work for the account that bought it.

@carsono311 So basically with early access being a perk to the gold and ultimate he'll have to wait the extra week to play without having to log into my account to do so.

Only reason I ask is with console sharing one of us could buy a standard digital game, or we could both chip in, both download the game to our own consoles (even though it's purchased on one account) and play at launch. This is the first time console sharing something with early access. I could access the Battlefield beta early but he had to wait the two extra days. I was wondering if the same holds true here, and I suppose it does.

Thank you all for the responses!

@BrianH1970 I think you described it correctly.

I certainly could be ( and hope so for your sake ) wrong, but that is how it works on other platforms.
