So I played a bunch today (level 21 now) in both AOW Conquest and solo bot matches to accumulate kills for sight unlocks on the SVK, M5A3, and LCMG; also unlocked the PP-29 and saw what all that big PP energy was about, and more importantly, I'm starting to get a handle on the LCMG a little bit. It's still definitely second-fiddle to the SMGs, but I've managed to get some more stability out of it...currently running default ammo, Warhawk compensator, laser, and a 1.25x/2.5x hybrid, almost always at 2.5. With the laser, the hipfire is good enough to get hipfire kills point-blank now, so there's that at least.
It's still frustrating but not *quite* as frustrating as it was. The bot matches have given me more confidence in weapon handling--and as much as we can criticize BF2042 for all that's wrong with it and missing from it, the ability to play bot matches is awesome and better than the old BF4/BF5 test ranges. I'm still dying too much and still going on heavy death streaks, but slowly, the LCMG is warming up for me. It's a start.
I figured out the sense of my frustration though. I don't know if any of you BF gods have these situations but some games, it just turns into a game where every single thing I do is wrong and gets me killed. Stay put? Dead. Push? Dead. Vehicle? Dead. Helicopter? Haven't tried yet, I'm scared to because people get so salty if you're not already a VTOL god in those things. Maybe it's just me, but the same thing happened to me in BFV as well and it's maddening.
Now I really do think that the bullet spread/deviation/whatever is way overdone, even the SVK wasn't putting rounds where I aimed it on a bot standing still looking at me. And I'm still dying in what seems like 2-3 hits when I'm having to pour huge streams of lead into people to take them down at any kind of range (BFV magic bullets). I dunno. At this point all I can hope is DICE fixes the gunnery and gives us infantry types more things to do than get farmed by Nightbirds.
I also had the same problem at first where I couldn't win a one on one fight, even if I started firing first and their back was facing me. The problem for me was multiple issues being 1) Slow internet 3-8 mps 2) playing on a 4k tv with only a 60hz refresh 3) not adjusting my setting despite having a good CPU and GPU. To make sure these were the issue I went to a friends house and played on his computer in which he has 100+ MPS internet and plays on a BenQ monitor with a 244hz refresh and I was killing people like a champ.
Sadly my internet isn't really fixable due to my location and dealing with AT&T. Also Im just out of the area where they have fiber optic internet ☹️ . Going from a 4k with 60hz refresh to a 244 hz monitor was a night and day difference in performance. Before I changed monitors a simple change to my settings ( youtube has guides on ideal 2042 settings ) made a big difference as well. Last but not least is situational awareness and the understanding that your almost always spotted due to recon drones or Prox grenades and should play with that in mind.
If your hardware and internet can't be easily replaced but you still enjoy the game you still have options. Until I switched my settings and changed my monitor I would play Casper as a Recon for my team and capture objectives. If I can't kill people I can spot the enemy ( Mainly with the drone and prox grenades ) and give my team valuable intel. That intel is like giving your team wall hacks in the sense they know where the other players in that area are ( huge advantage ). The game rewards tons of exp for your time to provide the intel as you get 5xp per spot ( repeatable) and 50xp assist if someone kills your spotted target. If you have a well placed prox grenade and you die don't release! You still get spot xp per pulse and assist xp if they are killed until no ones in range or prox grenade timer ends or your res timer is done. While this doesnt level your weapons it does level you fast.
