@AngrySquid270Well have you went trough his videos to say that is bold. He has over 20 years in BF franchise, so i think he has right to claim certain things.
You posted up over 60min worth of videos from yet another YouTuber using clickbait titles giving their takes. I'm not willing to make that investment. Can you give us the Cliff Notes?
But, based on the titles alone I'm in general disagreement with our YT friend. Re-making old video game content is tricky.
Do you lean towards a faithful re-creation, carrying over warts and all for max nostalgia?
Or
Do you simply create a modern interpretation of it?
Both are valid, but will appeal to different audiences.
You don't 'fix' a nostalgic interpretation. The warts are intentional.
Would you prefer to tour your childhood home as it was during your 5th birthday, or would you prefer to tour your childhood home today after it's gone through 2 remodels and 3 owners? It's objectively better now, but I think you'd appreciate seeing some of those old flaws.
I quickly went through his videos. He basically takes parts from the same map or other maps and superimposes them on screenshots to envision a redone layout. As in its all just photoshop.
I did this previously in a thread for the Renewal rework dev blog as I disagreed with some elements of the rework before it came out.
I had a look at the youtuber's ideas for Battle of the Bulge and El Alamein and uh..... let me say he shouldn't be hired.
If you want to see someone who is doing good things with portal have a look at Battlefield Dad's videos.
He has a videos showing how to implement custom capture locations / map boundaries / map icons and other things - he is one of very few people who is going into depth with tutorials for the logic editor.
