You can actually look around in the pilot seat in 2042, but its REALLY bad, like idk why is crazy slow to look compared to bf3/4, the default key on PC is holding in your scroll wheel (which is a horrible key, why not right mouse like before...)
The pilot free look Is border line pointless, the way it behaves is so weird. It’s similar to how bad the wounded view point is. Where the camera is sort of orbiting a central point. And is impossible to aim.
@FlibberMeister yes the poor default key binding aside, its really nearly useless... since even in "hardcore" you cannot force 1st person I try to use 3rd person but the effect of looking around is still really just awful... handeling of heli and jets is a whole other issue as well not specific to portal so I didnt hit on it here but suffice to say its terrible
