Having the same exact hero on both sides of the field is unimaginative

I cannot fathom why EA/DICE thought having the same exact hero with the same exact face and the same exact backstory on both sides was a good idea

Why am I seeing Falck/Boris/Mackay/Irish/Paik/Angel/Sundance/Rao/Casper/Dozer fight Falck/Boris/Mackay/Irish/Paik/Angel/Sundance/Rao/Casper/Dozer?

I understand it's a video game but surely the game should make sense in it's own game environment?

And make no mistake, these "specialists" are gaming heroes. One and only one specific character with a specific personality has exclusive access to their trait.

One could argue that the class system was the same. In bf1/bfv, assault had access to high explosive weapons where other classes did not. The difference being that the appearance of the character played no role in the identification of being Assault. Additionally each Assault unit had options of gadgets to choose from meaning that each Assault unit had the ability to be different from another Assault unit. To put simply there was the option of variation even within classes and even when ignoring the choice of weapons and only including gadget selection

That is not the case with 2042. Falck always has her injected personality and her syringe gun. Casper always has his injected personality and his drone. Mackay always has...you get the point.

In previous games, our player characters were black slates with no personality crammed into them; Meaning that even if I did see the same player model on the other side (which I can't say I ever paid attention to), it didn't matter much at all because their presence in the game ultimately does not matter. They're just a soldier, a tool used by their nation. In 2042,

I am constantly forced to notice that the other team's <insert hero> killed me. This issue is also presented in the end-of-round participation rewards where I am subjected to each heroes awful voice lines  and am consistently reminded that those same exact heroes are on my team and also the other team

Ultimately I am saying that being a generic soldier with no personality was better than this annoying flashy cartoon heroes

  • @Buzzfunk  Haha and proud of it.

And here you are again as well. So if you think you can do better along with all the others that you speak of then why arent you on the dev team?  If I made a post saying how much I enjoy the game I guarantee you there will people post a counterargument and how much they hate the game.  So I will do the same when someone posts a topic about how much they hate the game.

People don't need to be electricians to notice the lights are off

People don't need to be farmers to notice when crops are rotten

People don't need to be on the dev team to notice questionable, at best, design decisions

There are very valid criticisms of the game on this forum and you continue to willfully ignore such criticisms and  blindly defend a multi-million dollar company that needs no defense from you. That's why the user called you the "hate police" or whatever it was they called you.

@rippedwire01 I like the game. I like the Specialists. I think they add an extra strategic layer to an already stale class system of older BF games. If you or others don't like me defending a game I like playing then oh well. I could care less. And since when is I HATE EA/DICE THEIR GAME SUCKS AND I AM UNINSTALLING THIS CRAP a valid piece of criticism?

You made a topic about how you thought the Specialists design was unimaginative and I replied how is it any different from the unimaginative design of only 2 factions in BF3 and 3 factions in BF4? But you choose to ignore that to fit your narrative.

Never did I say " I HATE EA/DICE THEIR GAME SUCKS AND I AM UNINSTALLING THIS CRAP" is a valid piece of criticism. But I have seen you just ignore points of a post including my own. I have responded twice to what you think is the same problem. I have also replied to someone else who has the same thoughts as you. You have ignored my points. The other person has not

@rippedwire01You're bringing factions into it when you dismissed them earlier!

BF1 had no customisation what so ever so the character models were absolutely identical on each side, I don't recall any complaints.

I see you have changed your thread title to unimaginative and the BF1 example is exactly that!

Fact is, we cannot have an infinite number of different character models, even expecting 128 is a bit of a stretch. Not sure what you mean by this 'dimensional' malarkey around my example, it wasn't supposed to literal, just a way of explaining why one of 10 different character models may be on different sides at the same time.

Again, only BFV has been really close to what you seem to want, given the level of customisation and the manner in which friend and foe are distinguishable in BF2042 though, it is not a massive issue.

I have probably shot at more friendlies or not shot at enemies in past games.

Also, expect more skins so the differences will multiply.

It is by no means perfect and could have been done differently, as I mentioned earlier faction locked skins could be a relatively simple solution but it is by no means a massive issue. In many ways, the same 'issue' can, in my opinion, be applied to previous games.
