The bones of Hazard Zone are great, but the design choices are not. it seems they sold it as a mode of high risk, but then they made choices that remove any risk at all. Dying really means nothing in the mode. The "Extraction Streak" is almost irrelevant. Feels like they wanted to make a slower paced mode where living was the top priority, but then they thought that casuals wouldn't play it, so they watered it down to the point that it has no real identity and does nothing for either crowd outside of being a fun diversion occasionally.
- They need to double or even triple the price of everything in the economy to give value to purchasing weapons and add fear of dying and losing them. Everything is so cheap.
- They should also have you buy attachments separately to increase the cost of having your preferred weapons (And allow lootable items as seen in my next point)
- They need to add lootable gear, weapons, attachments, etc. To add a value to needing to extract with said item.
- They completely whiffed on the Squad redeploy call in. They are WAY too cheap and easy to use, AND they call back everyone. Again minimizing the value of your life. Should've just had redeploy stations and/or only allow one teammate back at a time.
- The 2 forced extractions do more harm then good. I get that they are pushing everyone into each other, but again I think it would be better to increase value in your life and allow you to extract whenever you want. They should have done what Hunt Showdown did: Each map should have 10-20 extraction sites that are randomly chosen each round. only have 3-5 active during a each match, and they randomize to keep things fresh. The biggest change is, you have to go to them and pop smoke to call in the extraction.
- There is no attachment to characters or weapons/gadgets. So no real fear of dying and losing them. They should have gone the character progression route that Hunt Showdown has, with perks that you choose from as you level up your character. start with barebones character, then as you survive runs you level them up and add perks (Like regen health, faster reload speeds, running speeds, etc). Then if you die, you lose all your levels and perks for that character and it resets back to lvl 1 with no perks.
- Add Solo / Duos
The key here is there is no real risk. And the mode gives you no reason to get attached to a character or weapons or gadgets, which leads to no real fear of dying or not extracting. If they decide to do what I have listed above, then this mode could be very, very special.
