I think the damage they do across the map is already really minimal, and there's usually so much cover that air vehicles just ignore you anyway. I had an attack heli fly straight towards me and it just outright killed me before I could take half of their health with the 30mm cannon... that's pathetic balancing. They need some real gamers to give feedback. How in the world does something that fly and have free-range of the map have more health then a slow moving vehicle?
I was hitting all my shots and there's nothing that I can do personally to improve. It's just busted, and has been since release. Dice is just simply infactuated with Helicopters. It's bizarre.
Agreed, the closer a helicopter or jet gets to a wildcat, the more damage the wildcat should do. How much current damage do they do?

For me the most irritating thing about Heli's is how long the counter measure lasts, you get an initial set of "chaff" deployed, then a bit more, then a bit more, then a bit more, and just when you think it's done, another set are released. So even though you've reloaded your AA rocket and are ready to fire, you can't get a lock on and the Heli is already flying off to hide; replenishing ALL of its weapons while you run around looking for ammo.
Remember in BFV where air vehicles had to fly through an ammo circle in the air to replenish their weapons. What a great idea, I guess that's why it got dropped for BF2042, like all the good ideas from previous games.
I don't expect, or want, a situation where one person can take down every air vehicle in the game single handed, but 24 points of damage with a successful hit is too low. Given all the armaments some of these vehicles have, it's stupidly one sided.

24dmg with what? And on what??
- 2 years ago@Man_iLoveFishing I think he means the NTW-50, that comes close to 24 points of damage IIRC.
