Help. Origin upgrade is $90 after purchasing base edition?

Anyone else seeing this? I have the base game and decided I want Gold. When I go to purchase, it's still $90, base game price not removed? How do I upgrade then?

    Hey @TheDrunkenPuppet it is not currently possible to purchase an upgrade to the version of BF2042 that you have.

    apparently EA does not know the difference between "upgrade" and "buying a new game"...
