Please take a look at this video - https://youtu.be/i11M027Nmw4 . As you can see in the slow-motion part, at least 1 shot hit the target (which is apparent from blood splatter), but there was no hit registration. The AC42 deals 28 hp of damage at close range, meaning that the target should also have died... Anyone else noticed this issue?
I believe Adamonic may be onto something with the lag compensation.
I normally play EU servers with a Ping of 23 and performance is substandard across BF1 & V.
However I played a few matches last week with some old friends on North American servers where my ping is now 94 and the performance was phenomenal. TTK/TTD matched, hit reg felt perfect and no deaths when I was behind cover.
- RMEChief3 years agoLegend@BFB-Praetorian oh yes, and I think it is tied to MM. That is why it takes so long in queue. They grab players from all over, then have to figure out the lag compensation for every player on the server to make it "even".
With a higher ping, you actually get more accurate updates from other players than you are giving to the server. So your gameplay feels much more accurate.
The more we have looked at it, the ping sweet spot is between 60-120.- 3 years ago@Adamonic I agree, it's definitely not under 10ms.
- ATFGunr3 years agoLegend@Adamonic My ping shows a consistent 27 ms, while the performance varies wildly. I’m not even sure the 27 shown beside the player card is accurate. I’m not going to go so far as to get software to tell me my ping to their server, doesn’t matter to me that much as I just blame Dice and EA.

It is basically fact the lag compensation is super juiced to allow the players at say 1/3 second ping (333 latency) to compete and kill players like me at 40ms ping (1/25 second ping). It really becomes inconsistently "luck of latency" in a ground battle, you never know that you are going to get. Is the enemy high or low ping, and are you at 40ms like me or the 90-160ms sweet spot where the Dice Amazon servers seem to give you the upper hand? And with the drop in player counts, we now have a much higher average latency for the larger 128 player servers.
If Dice would let us rent the BF Amazon servers, I'd gladly pay for a few and limit the connection latency to 120ms on some that are less serious, but for hardcore TDM I'd limit it to 60ms. And to be honest, in a faster first person shooter like Apex, you need to limit it to 40-50ms or less. Instead some players are paying for VPN to raise their pings to have a better experience online...is this what Dice wants???
The pic below shows me getting killed by a high ping player, Xbox versus Xbox ground battle, and note he was down a ladder about 7 feet from the corner, and I was on the third step 5 feet around the other side of the corner. I've played too many first person shooters to list and even competed in clan tournaments in the past, and I can say I've never seen any game, out of hundreds, that has this large of a lag compensation. BF 2042 simple isn't reality based online gaming, it is a very complex net code disaster waiting to happen each second it attempts to connect three platforms for 128 players at high and low pings to one single server.
Why is the lag compensation the worst for BF 2042 than any other game out there? Because other games don't attempt to cram 128 players from across the globe without latency limits, and then pretend that this will not create a very unstable gaming experience that is on par with having cheating referees (net code) in sports. The game ends up robbing the players of base reality online and it gets old real quick...
And the solution = server browser. Yet Dice is now painted themselves into a corner, as the MM system only works "decently" with 100,000 players online across the globe at one time, but with the player death spiral the MM system is not working consistently "decent" at all. Yet Dice can't have MM and server browser at the same time, as not enough players are left. So they choose to ignore their customers and pretend that MM system is still feasible...and deny the reality that the online player counts keep dropping. At this point Season 4 can't come fast enough for Dice, as it seems the simply want to move as they can't give players the number one feature requested...Server Browsers.
Best case is Dice learns form BF 2042 to make future versions better...as right now I believe they are trapped and have no choice but to keep making the net code more complex and thus more unstable...☹️

I really hope they can find a way to address this but I think its so complex now that it will never will. I'm guessing crossplay is the issue as well too?

If only we could have faith DICE would actually learn from their mistakes, instead of saying they'd learned from their mistakes and then repeating them as they've done previously : /
- DeepSixxxx3 years agoSeasoned Ace@edgecrusherO0 Dice has made the choice to favor the less experienced players to allow MM to fill quickly, as I'd guess 60-70% of players level 30 or less don't have a clue that the net code is wack...at least not yet until the play long enough. Before I shelved BF 40 days ago, it was rare to see other S level players versus 5-25 rankings...which tells me I'm not the only one giving up on BF until further fixes/patches....
I'd sponsor dedicated servers if Dice is open to the idea. Sometimes I think their lawyers are keeping them from trying more creative ideas like dedicated servers, etc...so let us gamers take on the financial and perceived risks via renting dedicated servers. And if that works, add a server browser for official portal modes of TDM/Rush/Hardcore/AirInfantry/ETC...and if that works, add it to AOW by Season 4...
