Players, I have been experimenting with this for over a month and it works for me. I don't need a whole clip to kill anyone, sometime a half a clip and they don't kill me with one shot unless they're cheating. If you keep the data graph up on you game you will see a yellow, red and green line in the upper box. The red line is everyone else's latency and the green is yours, the yellow I believe is the servers. If the red line is closer to yhe yellow the server is *, get off! If the yellow line is closer to the green, server good. Try it out and let me know how ut works for you.
The issue I'm having is that the red line is always far closer to the yellow line than the green one in over 10 different matches I played in.
I noticed that the Alat is always a higher number than lat is this normal?
My ping is usually 21-26 and never fluctuates in a match. The scans I've run show my internet is running at optimal with zero packet loss.
I've cleared the cache on my PS5 and reset my modem fairly regularly.
Is there anything else I could be doing to get my green line closer to the yellow?
Or do I need to increase my ping? On BF1 & V the sweet spot for best performance is 84-89 so I play on NA servers. Obviously this isn't an option in 2042, but is there anything I could try?
- Chaz633 years agoRising Veteran@BFB-Praetorian You need make sure your Nat Type is open. You also try port forwarding, but I don't recommend it unless you know what your doing.

You can always try to optimize your ping, but what's the use when all those who don't even care, and just want to play "battlefield" through their crappy wifi and bad VPN and other rubbish? What can your optimizations do about it? And what can Dice network team do about all these bad connections that people have in the world, it sometimes sounds like you demand that Dice must break the laws of nature to solve these problems.
- Chaz633 years agoRising Veteran@BFB-Praetorian The Alat is everyone else latency, red line. The low latency number is yours, you want the lowest Lat number. So Try another server. As soon as you see the yellow line closer to the Red line, leave the game and go into another server. As far as BF1 & BFV, different games, remember thae were also built for xbox series and PS5.
- BFB-Praetorian3 years agoSeasoned VeteranCheers for replying @Chaz63 I think my Nat type is set to moderate so I'll have a crack at changing it to open.
Appreciate the advice mate 👍 - BFB-Praetorian3 years agoSeasoned Veteran@SpoolaZ Dice already gave me the solution and they didn't have to break a single law of nature, it was called a 'server browser'.
I might be remembering this wrong but during BF1 Dice set up region locked servers. It didn't last long due to the outcry from OOR players but for that brief period apparently Battlefield was glorious to play.
A few of vets who used to run their own servers in BF3/4 noted in another thread that performance seemed to tank server wide when a 100 plus ping player entered the game. So naturally they put a cap on ping and stability.
I'd like to see Dice take this approach just to see if we see improved performance.
The tech already exists so Dice can once again leave nature and it's laws well alone. - hambaci_kuranger3 years agoNew Adventurer
TTK on console players is horrible. With PC players isn't problem in gunfight but consoles allways need more bullets like PC player.
- RMEChief3 years agoLegend@hambaci_kuranger yeah it is the weirdest thing. What I am seeing is the server is not registering the same number of hits than the client is. I sometimes lose up to 20% of my hits (like on an LMG) even though my client is registering them, due to Time Nudge+Net Code+Crossplay, etc, the server doesn't register them, and then I am insta-killed.
- Mackstan713 years agoSeasoned Ace@hambaci_kuranger
Hmmm do you think?
I as a pc player can empty a clip just to recieve a few bullets for me to die.
I strongly believe to problem lies deeper then just that. I played with crossplay on and off, on both settings the game act broken beyond repair. - sk1lld3 years agoLegend
I'm guessing that EA/DICE have allowed the OOR players into servers causing the instability. I'm starting to doubt they will do anything about it. I remember you could feel when an OOR "High ping" player would enter a BF4 server. The whole server would lag. When admins limited the ping servers were more stable.

On PC you can't play with turned off crossplay becuase you cannot found any server :D that is ridicolouse.
And yes I think 9 from 10 console players have advantage in bad TTK consistency.
and I don't saying about "silent aimbot". Be honest and give hand on your heart, on PC we can configure on same settings (aim assist on consoles) mostly every cheat software for this game. Why is this allowed and standard PC cheating no?

@BFB-PraetorianYou shouldn't need to tinker with nat-settings.
Normally if it works it is ok. Perhaps a very old slow router can be slower with some nat-settings than others, but it shouldn't really change much.
The biggest problem with home-routers are the throughput and latency with several clients at once (PCs, phones, tablets, TVs etc). You can test your router for bufferbloat, run the speedtest at dslreports.com.
Bufferbloat is not easy to fix, it often requires another router with some sort of "quality of service"-tools, this can become pretty complicated. - Mackstan713 years agoSeasoned Ace
Changing router/reg or other settings is not what i'm fond of. Other finished games works with no problems.
- BFB-Praetorian3 years agoSeasoned VeteranThank you for the advice @cso7777 I ran the test and I definitely have Bufferbloat.
I'm reluctant to invest in a router though as friends who ran with a NetGear NightHawk (I'm assuming this is good? 🤷♂️) during BFV had the same problems I had.
If it was a problem across any other game titles I absolutely would, but Battlefield is the only game to consistently give me these issues. - Chaz633 years agoRising Veteran
Player,
My router is a Verizon G3100 with 1G of speed and on the Verizon FIOS network. My Xbox one X is plugged directly into the router and I have the same issue all of you are having, it's not my router. Having said that it had to be something with DiCE and EA. I play MW2 and never have the issues I have with BF 2042, MW2 runs smooth. Why doesn't EA fix the issue or at least take ownership. Oh that's right it's MONEY! They got their money so the heck with the players.

@BFB-PraetorianMy setup has (almost) no bufferbloat (A+ according to dslreports), stable 21ms ping, no packet-loss etc, but I'm having the same issues with insta-deaths, killed behind corners etc etc.
The game has issues that no matter how good your connection are.
BFV had the TTK/TTD-bug that was never fixed and older titles were not perfect as well (BF4 has horrible netcode).
Bufferbloat is mostly a problem when multiple "clients" are using your internet at once (streaming video on a tv while gaming etc), especially with slower internet-connections (ADSL, 3G). If you are the only one using your internet while gaming it shouldn't be a problem. - Chaz633 years agoRising Veteran
BFB-Praetorian,
I am disabled Veteran and I am the only one home during the day when I play BF 2042. So your comment about playing 2042 while watching TV and gaming is BS, sorry only thing I could think of. I don't watch TV while I game and there is nothing else on my internet. The issue is with the game and EA why won't anyone in EA take ownership that the game is broken, plus allowing cheater to continue to play on the game. There is an old saying "Don't * down my back and tell me it raining". I went into the military to protect the rights the people of America, not the greedy millionaires at EA ......

With the game going F2P on PS, it now really feels like they have added something to the game for new players. I have never seen so many Level 5's running around like Medusa. If you are in their FOV you are instantly melted. Then when you do get the jump on them, no amount of hit markers kills them.
I just can't tell if there is some type of game mechanic that is doing this or if it is just the terrible netcode.
They really need to go up to 60Hz instances and see if that resolves some of these issues. - 3 years ago
I have played for a week on PC and uninstalled.
The aiming for other players seems to be snap to target, sticky no recoil aiming with high damage bullets on full auto instant death within 3 hits from anywhere up to 500m.
The disbelief when you die, see the killcam and they have killed you from 150m+ on auto, my auto at 5m does little if nothing.
Don't even understand my aiming to explain it, the only way I can is that single round weapons of all kind work, once I go to an auto forget it, I might get a kill if I am lucky but a whole magazine will probably result in my death and them on anything from 1%-100%.

Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment they are using this right now in 2042 because it is play for free weekend. They are using this to sell the game. This should be illegal!!!!
Just grabbed this from youtube comment
- 3 years ago@Mackstan71 Just curious, how you find players with cross-play off?
