They messed up the shooting on an FPS hahahahaha
Joke devs
Yknow I combed through this strange fever dream of a topic and I think its lunacy to want to tether the recoil to the center of the screen. The whole idea of animations is to break the illusion that the gun is attached to the center of your face. This discription of mushy that I hear thrown around doesnt track for me either. KB/M here, I play various other shooters as well. AAA and indie.
The only complaint on this topic that hold weight is that the muzzle return to center when firing is inconsistant in some guns but in the video that revived the topic showed this was between the Avancys LMG and the PP2000 SMG. Thats about as contrasting as you can get in weapon handling and a terrible comparison.
Because the drift is affected by attachments in predictable ways as per the descriptions it may even be intentional balance per weapon design. The visual center drift not being present on controller use seems logical too. It would be more difficult to correct off center with a joystick, compared to mouse. DICE did say they were adjusting controller aim. My girlfriend plays exclusively with a controller and has said the aiming has improved for her a few times as the patches rolled out.
Most importantly, the bullets go where your sight is aiming. All of these people use screen space third party reticles to make these analysis and thats not representative of the in game experience. You cant see a generic crosshair when you ads normally, you use the sights.
As always, the devs are the only people who can say whether the recoil drift is intentional game design and balancing like Insurgency or Squad or every other tactical sim shooter. Or if they intended for a quake, unreal tournament fixed cam. Personally? I assume the former considering Battlefield is an arcade sim on large maps, and not an arena shooter.
DICE plz. Speak up on this. Help us understand the intent here. Is it balance? Is it bug? Somebody ask someone who actually worked on it or something. Is there documentation of this in a patch note?

24 shots, 10 client hits, 9 server hits. I could not understand why it was taking me 10+ rounds to kill anyone. I know I missed a few shots (weapon just randomly jerked right - not normal recoil), but slowing this replay down and counting, I only missed 5-6 shots, but the game thinks I missed 15! It is like shooting an invisible wall. The 2nd player would not die. This is every encounter, yet, the enemy kills me with 4-5 bullets, all hits, fastest TTK possible. How can the disparity be this bad? If I go to Portal and test with AI, everything works fine. They are clearly doing more than just netcode with multiplayer.

@Adamonic I wonder if consoles have less spread than PC.

Good question, would aim assist negate some of the spread anyway?
- Alethes2 years agoSeasoned Ace@OskooI_007 with crossplay off (and I'm on console) I also get frameshot sometimes. So this discrepancy can also happen between consoles.

Please see the attachment to see how lopsided the final scores are in BF 2042. This has been going on for 3 to 5 month now. This us proof that the game is broken and the TTK/TTD is messed up. EA, why are you nit answering these consumers, the people who paid you for this game? [Edited]

Last game of the night and complete server desync at the end.
Full clip into people and they run off around a corner. 10 plus people that should have been easy kills and most shots are not registering.
Shotgun on a static enemy, zero damage, they turn around and kill me.
Why aren't we seeing ANYTHING from DICE on this issue?
It is a game breaking issue that has been worse in this BF than any other.
DICE if you want to convince us you are listening you HAVE to address this issue. - Alethes2 years agoSeasoned Ace@Ai-Fluffy today I was one-shot killed, twice. I thought "fair enough, shotgun, no prob." It was an ACW-R, same guy.
Something is definitely off lately. - Ai-Fluffy2 years agoSeasoned Ace
That is what quite a few of us are getting.
The issue is not every one is having this problem.
Guy I game with was burst firing killing one after another.
With the connection I had he wasn't firing enough bullets to kill people.
DICE are making a show of "listening to the community"
SO where are they ?
No where, as they have our money. - 2 years ago
This game is like a totally different animal after the latest patch. It's playable, but it definitely isn't fun. Consoles make all the PC players think their systems are broken.

As a PC player i personal think that it isn't a console thing, it's a broken/unfinished game issue...broken to a point that it's unfixable. Other more finished and newer games works perfect, so i know it's not my system. To be honest...i personaly don't know how the game is now as DICE/EA made me quit playing this game months ago. But hearing others...it's still a mess. - 2 years ago
What I mean is the cross-platform-with-45hz-tick rate-server thing with console players and PCs doesn't work. This particular issue is a console thing. I have never seen this with a PC player.

And this clip from a buddy of mine. These things are jacked up. DICE, pls/

Always in most cases these gunfights you lose with console players. They don't have a crazy movement like PC players. They moving like POD-BOT from Counter-Strike 1.3/1.4 but allways hiting you to head when you jumping, sliding or doing any gymnastic movement in game (silent aimbot on consoles is cool I know).
.. but question is why console players not receiving any hitmarks or damage many times.
It is next advantage for console players like aim assist aka silent aimbot or less recoil? - 2 years ago
Console players will chime in and tell you that they don't feel (or think) they have any advantage whatsoever. What is interesting, though, is what would happen if there were no aim assist (which really is an aimbot in this case) and Dice just promoted M&K for console players. As it stands right now, it seems like we are all playing a probability-based game, and PC players have an enormous handicap. The bottom line is this: the game feels like you're being cheated while you're playing.

Someone needs to explain this type of garbage.
- OskooI_0072 years agoSeasoned Ace
@CH34TC0D3 Yup, the invisible player bug has been in Battlefield games since 2016. It's safe to assume DICE isn't able to fix the bug or they would have by now.

are you able to get a full lobby with crossplay turned off? lol

On the PS5 here. I feel that the 'getting killed by PC players with 1 bullet often behind cover' is less of a problem lately.
It does feel a lot better and fair on the PS5 lately.
I don't know the PC experience now, but i still believe they should separate the PC/Console crowd to make everyone happy. And no, don't want M&K on console. If yes, then aim assist has to stay.
If you guys want M&K on console,i would like to separate the players by input method.
Cheers! - 2 years ago

Cheers! No better on PC, feels the same. If I have a 1v1 engagement, I am dead, my shots register at client, but not at server, and I am basically insta-killed, sometimes with a 0 tick rate. When I am hit, all the hits are bundled.

Desynch or whatever the issues is it's rage inducing when it happens. EA/DICE can you please look into this and let us know your thoughts?

This sounds like how it was on console a few months back.

This issue is indeed rage inducing. It is why most players have a love and hate relationship with this game.
The truth might be that they just can't fix this issue, either that or they simply don't care enough to do so. Playing is as frustrating as it can be. Hit reg is still not fonctionning at random, add to that the fact that hits are not registered properly by the the servers (I already showed exemples of this issue previously, but it still happen to me.). Few minutes ago, had the graph showing my 12 client hits being transformed to 3 server hits. How fun. - hambaci_kuranger2 years agoRising Scout
Servers or something in this game he has no idea what is your real HP.
Many times if I got hits and my HP dropped down example on 20HP and you healt revived to 100 with autohealing option next player kill you instantly becuase game still think you have that 20HP only.
and players with good internet connection example on fiber have a big disadvantage becuase they sending all data immediately when servers need and thats why players with poor connection many time winning fights too. Servers don't need wait to respone from player.

I have never been so frustrated with a FPS game as with this one.
Literally I sit and yell angrily at the screen (!) probably almost every match because I get killed in a situation where I should have been the one killing the other guy.
For example when I have terrain advantage and shoot first + aim well…and still lose, for no explainable reason.
Or when I die with ultra short TTD which is something that happens every game.
I'd put it down to a half-finished game engine, which they admitted on release.
There are a lot of Sync issues with this game with hit reg being a big problem but also other sync problems which are very telling of the code beneath the game. The main issues I've noticedin regarding Server sync/lag:
- Sometimes, it seems to take an awfully long time for the server to actually authorize the firing of my weapon. By that I mean an extra 1-50ms or somewhere near that. This feels like input lag, but it's not because it's very inconsistent.
- Map events, where buildings collapse - particularly those that are scripted seem to jump all over the place or only update about once per second
- It's still possible to fire multiple projectiles at once that make use of the vehicle lock-on system. I can replicate this 100% of the time using mostly any ATGM lock-on missile launcher.
All of these have been here since release.
It's amusing because I work on games myself so I see everything little inconsistency 😉
