How do you calculate a negative K/D?

Serious question - I have been playing FPS for 20 years and I understand the 1/x calculation.  Being normal I get 1-2/1, in this I get around 0.2 if I am lucky.

This is the first time I have ever played a game where you can expect not to and consistently get no kills per round, which means you get a 0/x K/D, where x is any number you want before you press alt + F4.

My brain is seizing up - how do you calculate a K/D where you don't even have the one in the first place?

It has to be negative, but you get into the area of maths where you are dividing zero(?) or a negative(?) and it all goes very strange.

I normally get 0/4 to 0/10 per round, you can't divide 0 by 10 a calculator won't allow you to do that and Excel says 0.

Has BF2042 discovered a new field of mathematics?

Chatgpt says 0/10 is 0.
