Map Content is what keeps these games fresh. BF4 with Premium pass, we had 4 new maps out every quarter plus the 10 at launch. No there wasn't an issue finding games in the US on whatever map rotation you wanted. Whatever you felt like playing, there were plenty of servers for you.
The same for BF3...Back to Karkand right out of the gate in addition to the launch maps. They kept rolling with 4 more DLC packs.
BF2 and BF2142 were before Season passes and DLC packs, but they had "expansions" plus some free added maps. Special Forces and Armored Fury for BF2 were excellent...Northern Strike for BF2142. Again, neither game had issues finding games on whatever maps you wanted to play.
This is what Live Service has failed at so far. It has yet to prove they can keep map content flowing like DLC and paid expansions could.
So for me to stay with BF2042 past the first 6 months, they have to be more regular at adding maps than BFV was.
